1SGT (Ret) Henry William Minor Jr.

Henry William Minor Jr. was born October 23, 1952, in Manchester, Connecticut to Henry Sr. and Beatrice (Clark) Minor. He grew up in Tolland, Connecticut and graduated with the class of 1970 from Rockville High School. After high school, Henry enlisted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his retirement after twenty-three years. During his time in the military and for his honorable service, he earned many decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards, to include the Audie Murphy Award. Henry served during the Gulf War and obtained rank of First Sergeant. Henry was united in marriage to Linda Diane and to this union they were blessed with three children: Kimberly, Philip and Kevin. He was a great father to his children and taught them so many lessons and life skills. Henry was a hard worker who took great pride in providing for his family and making a home for them. After his Military Career, Henry started working for Marathon Electric where he met his sweetheart, Betty Jean. The two fell in love and on February 23, 2008 they were united in marriage. To this union, Henry gained two children: Sam and Jody. Henry and Betty shared together fourteen years of marriage and memories. Henry liked working with his hands and was always tinkering on something. He spent countless hours in his garage building many things to include several Harley Davidsons. Henry had a passion and talent for restoring classic cars, especially 1957 Fords. He enjoyed cruising and attending car shows. Most important to Henry was spending time making memories with his family. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and adored his great-grandchildren. Henry treasured being called “Gamper” and cherished the hugs they shared. Henry departed this life January 31, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family obtaining the age of seventy years. Henry is survived by his loving wife: Betty Minor of Waynesville, MO; children: Kimberly Roan of Waynesville, MO, Philip Minor and wife Jamie of Lebanon, MO, Kevin Minor and Christina of Waynesville, MO; Jason Davis and wife Kim of North Carolina, and Beth Ann Carter and husband Dustin of Georgia; step-children: Sam Jones and wife Sarah of Pleasant Hill, MO and Jody Jones and wife Stephani of Lebanon, MO; mother: Beatrice Tweedie of Manchester, CT; siblings: Peter Minor and wife JoCarol of Manchester, CT, Patti Cowperthwaite of Vernon, CT, and Paul Minor and wife Donna of Ashford, CT; step-brothers: Michael Tweedie of Chattanooga, TN, Mark Tweedie and Melissa of Manchester, CT, Raymond Tweedie of Orleans Cape Cod, MA, and Scott Tweedie and wife Jodi of Hickory, NC; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his father: Henry William Minor Sr. and his stepfather: Raymond “Mike” Tweedie. Henry never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. He was a true patriot who loved his country fiercely. Henry was a great example to his family and leaves behind a lasting legacy. His big smile will never be forgotten. He will be forever missed.
