Amelia "Mickey" Mae (Bierbower) Knight

Amelia “Mickey” Mae (Bierbower) Knight was born April 30, 1926 in Dent County, Missouri, to Charles Luther and Carrie Rosetta (Leonard) Bierbower. She entered into eternal rest September 16, 2022, in Salem, Missouri at the age of ninety-six years. Mickey was united in marriage to the love of her life, William “Bill” James Knight, November 5, 1949, and to this union blessed with two children: Sharon and Eddie. Mickey and Bill shared forty-nine years of laughter and memories before his passing January 10, 1997. Mickey started her working career at the Ely Walker Factory, and then she took on ironing and starching clothing for several Salem Businessmen. Mickey assisted Bill with the family business Knight and Maher for many years. She ended her working career after working nine years in the fabric department at Wal-Mart, retiring in 1990. After retirement, Mickey and Bill loved traveling together. They made a few trips camping and enjoyed spending time at Lake Norfolk. Mickey found her passion using her talented hands to embroider, quilt, and crochet. She has made many gifts for her family to enjoy including several beautiful afghans. Mickey liked to play bingo and go to the casino. She was a pretty lucky lady with several winnings. She even hit the jackpot once on the quarter machine while at the casino. Mickey was very generous with her winnings and usually gifted them to her children and grandchildren. Mickey loved to bake and always had candy, cookies, pie, or cake available when you came to visit. She was full of life, witty, and liked visiting with her friends. She always had a friendly smile to share and a story to tell. Mickey was known as a grandma to many, she cherished making memories with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandson. As a young lady, Mickey was of the Methodist faith and later converted to Catholicism. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with the ladies’ quilting group. Mickey is survived by her loving children: Sharon Usrey and husband Lyndell of Bossier, LA and Eddie Knight and wife Nancy of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Brad Chafin and fiancé Gina, Nannette Fontenot and husband Paul, Chad Knight and partner Tommy Delcour, and Adam Knight and wife Bridget; great-grandchildren: Matthew Theriot and wife Cori, Sarah Johnston, Raven Knight, Rylee Knight, and Mikenna Chafin; great-great-grandson: Riley; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Bill Knight; infant child; parents: Charles and Carrie Bierbower; brother: William Bierbower; and sisters: Florence Ellis, Emigen Sugg, Maudeline Clinton, and Bessie Nivens. Mickey was loved by many and will be forever missed. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories to hold on to. Funeral Services for Amelia “Mickey” Mae (Bierbower) Knight were held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Mark Nash officiating. Song selections played were “In the Sweet By and By”, “Amazing Grace”, and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”. Serving as Pallbearers were Paul Fontenot, Adam Knight, T.J. Bowers, Matt Theriot, Brad Chafin, and Tim Knight. Honorary Pallbearers were Chad Knight, Danny Mathes, Lyndell Usrey, Wayne Brown, and Scott Bierbower. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Amelia “Mickey” Knight to the Salem Care Center Christmas Fund and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
