Diana Lee (Burkman) Bergman

Diana Lee (Burkman) Bergman was born September 20, 1944, in Abilene, Kansas to Willard Carl and Opal Fern (Miller) Burkman. She grew up in Randolph, Kansas before moving to Salem at the age of thirteen. Diana was united in marriage to the love of her life, James “Jim” Frederic Bergman, December 9, 1960 in Salem and shared sixty-two years of memories. Diana and Jim were blessed with five children: Jerry, Donald, Joseph, Janet, and Kim. Diana was a dedicated homemaker and took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. She loved to entertain, cook, bake, and provide for others. Diana was known for her awesome pies, especially her blackberry pie. She had a gift for sewing and enjoyed sharing those gifts with her family. Diana liked spending time outdoors. She liked fishing and camping at Montauk and the Lake of the Ozarks. She looked forward to family reunions and loved spending time with her family. Diana was a sweet and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished making memories with them and treasured the time they spent together. Diana was a lovely Christian woman with a big heart and beautiful soul. She was a longtime member of the First Church of God in Salem and enjoyed the fellowship with others. Diana was gifted with talented hands and loved playing the piano for the church. Diana entered into rest December 31, 2022, in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years. She is survived by her loving husband: James Bergman of Salem, MO children: Donald Jay Bergman and wife Debbie of Indiana, Joseph Dale Bergman of Tennessee, Janet Gail Nelson and husband Rich of Fulton, MO, and Kimberly Bergman of Salem, MO; sisters: Carolyn Bailey and Bonnie Hanson both of Kansas; brothers: Bill Burkman and wife Verna of Salem, MO and Jimmy Burkman and wife Linda of Tennessee; grandchildren: Nissi Bergman, Rachel Breck and husband Luke, Hannah Bergman, Emily Herschel and husband Tyler, Aaron Nelson and wife Bethani, Laura Pond and husband Ian, Faith Nelson, Andy Nelson, Michelle, and Kenny; great-grandchildren: Jilli, Callen, Kaleb, Benjamin, Levi, and one on the way; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Preceding her in death, infant son: Jerry Wayne Bergman; parents: Willard “Lefty” and Fern Burkman, and grandson: Matthew Bergman. Diana will always be remembered for her kindness, patience, and generosity. She leaves behind a great legacy. Her beautiful smile will never be forgotten. Diana will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Diana Lee (Burkman) Bergman were held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor John Kinkead officiating. Special Music was provided by Grandson Aaron Nelson singing “Amazing Grace” and “Hymn of Heaven”. The eulogy was shared by daughter Janet Nelson. Serving as Pallbearers were Aaron Nelson, Andy Nelson, Ian Pond, David Bergman, Rommel Cowan, and Rich Nelson. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery.
