Frances Evelyn (Harris) Stagner

Frances Evelyn (Harris) Stagner was born September 8, 1937, in Doss, Missouri to Warren and Evelyn (Cusick) Harris. She grew up with her seven siblings in Salem, Missouri, and graduated with the class of 1956 from Salem High School. Frances was united in marriage to the love of her life, Willis D. Stagner, March 7, 1959, in Salem, Missouri. Frances and Willis were blessed with sixty-three years of memories and three sons: Randall, Ronald, and Robert. Frances was a homemaker and a devoted military spouse who supported her husband’s Navy career. In her early years, she worked at Barard Lingerie and the International Shoe Factory. When she lived in Salem, Frances was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. While her husband was stationed in Hawaii, she volunteered her time with the US Navy Chiefs Wives Club thrift shop and at Tripler Army Hospital. After Willis retired from service, she worked at Wal-Mart in the fabric department and taught cake decorating at JC Penney. Frances was a woman of many talents and skills, a very selfless and generous soul who lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed working with her hands creating her own ceramics and pottery. She loved quilting and made many beautiful quilts. Frances was a talented cake decorator providing cakes for many occasions. She liked gardening and canning her bounty. Frances enjoyed bowling, with her highest game being 299. Her family was most important to her and brought her the greatest joy in life. She cherished her grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren, treasuring the memories made together. Frances departed this life September 26, 2022, in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of eighty- five years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving husband: Willis D. Stagner of Fort Leonard Wood, MO; sons: Colonel Retired (U.S. Army) Randall K. Stagner and wife Deborah of Raleigh, NC, Ronald K. Stagner of Cross Timbers, MO, and Robert L. Stagner and wife Judy of Brandon, MS; siblings: Lavenia Mettler of Springfield, MO, James Harris and wife Rosemary of Crocker, MO, Emery Harris and wife Judy of Salem, MO, Orvin Harris and wife Kay of the Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Mildred Gulley of Newburg, MO; grandchildren: Michael K. Stagner, Bryan R. Stagner and wife MaryEllen, Forrest W. Stagner, Westley J. Stagner and wife Jackie, Ronni Hoffman and husband Jesse, James A. Stagner and wife Jessie, Willis L. Stagner, and Warren A. Stagner; great-grandchildren: Quentin, Zelda, Harrison, Olivia, Benjamin, Isabelle, Makaleigh, and Makinleigh; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, parents: Warren and Evelyn Harris; and brothers: Barton and Martin Harris. Frances will be forever missed. Her memory will live on in those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Frances Evelyn (Harris) Stagner were held Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away”. Serving as Pallbearers were Michael Stagner, Bryan Stagner, Forrest Stagner, Westley Stagner, Ronni Hoffman, James Stagner, Willis Stagner, and Warren Stagner. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
