Kevin Patrick Florence

Kevin Patrick Florence was born on July 12, 1979, in Chicago, Illinois to Ronnie and Susan (Rutledge) Florence, and passed away February 16, 2020 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of forty years. Kevin grew up in Greater Cincinnati and attended school in Middletown, Ohio. He went to further his education at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio studying Arts and Science and Sinclair Community College studying Sociology and Criminology. Kevin was blessed with four children: Jessalyn, Jaycee, Vadah, and River. His children were his pride and joy, and he loved spending all the time he could with them. Kevin’s passion was to entertain his family and friends as a Master Magician, he was well known as “Majikman Florentino”. Kevin was fascinated with magic at an early age and was influenced by David Copperfield and Houdini. He had the ability to wow audiences of all ages with countless tricks and endless pranks. Kevin enjoyed giving back to the community using his talent, he frequently visited the nursing homes as well as delighting people of all ages on the streets and public venues. Kevin was larger than life, always had a trick up his sleeve, and never told his secret. His true magic came from his gigantic personality and enormous heart. Always the entertainer, Kevin also enjoyed writing songs and playing the guitar. He loved to beatbox, often played the character, Crazy Larry and impressions of Robert Di Niro and other actors. Kevin enjoyed watching all types of movies and was a huge Rock N’ Roll fan. Kurt Cobain, Nirvana, Alice and Chains, Stone Temple Piolets, Pearl Jam, and Leonard Cohen just to name a few. Most of all, Kevin was a proud father and loved his children fiercely. Kevin is survived by his siblings: Kim Knight of Levelland, TX, Dave Hoover and fiancé Sandy Waite of Las Vegas, NV, Glenn Hoover of Monroe, OH, Christopher Florence of Lubbock, TX, Michael Florence and wife Patricia of Salem, MO, and Kristina Florence-Bell and husband Noel of Salem, MO; special friend: Catherine Dent; children: Jessalyn Florence of West Virginia, Jaycee Florence of West Virginia, Vadah Richardson of Ohio, and River Florence of Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death, were his parents Ronnie and Susan Florence. Kevin will be remembered as a talented young man who could bring laughter to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Service for Kevin Patrick Florence was held Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Reverend Josh Akers officiating. Song selections played were “Magicman and the Dealer”, “Jesus Don’t Want Me for a Sunbeam”, “Hallelujah”, and “They Hung Him on a Cross”. Serving as Pallbearers were Kristina Florence, Michael Florence, Glenn Hoover, Dave Hoover, Chris Florence, Jessalyn Florence, Jaycee Florence, and Kim Knight. Honorary Pallbearers were Noel Bell, Lester Issacs, Lee Jones, and Catherine Dent. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Kevin Patrick Florence and left at Wilson Mortuary.
