Larry "Ray" Gant Jr.

Larry Ray Gant Jr. was born on February 18, 1970, in Columbia, Missouri to Larry and Earlene (Light) Gant Sr. and passed away June 29, 2020, in Salem, Missouri at the age of fifty years. Ray was a hard worker his whole life, always with a smile to share. He was a self-employed handyman, who helped everyone in any way that he could. Ray enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing off the bank, watching sci-fi-horror films, and getting a good book in his hands to read. He loved his gadgets and wasn’t afraid of new technology. Most important to him was his family and he deeply cherished his time spent with them. Ray is survived by his parents: Larry & Earlene Gant Sr. of Salem, MO; sister: Lisa Blaylock and husband Jim of Salem, MO; aunts and uncles: Hershel Light and wife Judy of Steelville, MO, Junior Light and wife Diane of Salem, MO; Wendell Light of Salem, MO; Ron Light and wife Beth of Salem, MO; Ricky Gant of Oregon, Valerie Gant of Oregon, Patty Mcholland and husband Bob of Licking, MO, and Chester "Allen" Gant and wife Cindy of Licking, MO; nieces: Amber Blaylock of Springfield, MO and Emily Roach and husband Chris of Salem, MO; great-nephew: Remington; as well as several cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Everett and Louis Light, Jewel Gant, and Virgie Provorse; aunts and uncles: Roger and Helen Light Sr., Verl Light, and Lorna Light. Ray will be remembered for his generosity and caring heart that he showed for his family and friends. He will be missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Larry Ray Gant Jr. were held Friday, July 3, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Wendell Light and Junior Light officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Scott Brakefield, Ron Light, Josh Oakley, Chris Roach, Roger Light Jr., and Jim Adamick. Honorary Pallbearer was Cody Light. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Larry "Ray" Gant Jr. and left at Wilson Mortuary.
