Leon Leo Bays

Leon Leo Bays was born September 19, 1970, in Salem, Missouri. He was one of two sons born to Homer Leo and Barbara Ann (Asher) Bays. He grew up and attended school in Viburnum, Missouri. Leon was blessed with one daughter, Brooklyn, who was his world. He was united in marriage to Tana Renee Metcalf on June 16, 2011, in Steelville, Missouri, and to this union gained two children: Lacey and Devin. Leon was a hard worker and throughout the years worked at Mathes Sawmill, the Walmart Distribution Center, Doe Run, and most recently at Ace Case Manufacturing. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and has made many one-of-a-kind gifts for his family including several benches and side tables. Leon loved being outdoors, spending time at the creek with his dog Ava, dirt bike riding, and driving his truck on the back roads. His passion was in music. He was a talented drummer, amazing guitarist, and gifted songwriter. Making memories and loving his family and friends were the things that were most important to him. He supported his family in everything they did and loved watching his grandchildren grow. Leon departed this life April 7, 2024, in Steelville, Missouri, at the age of fifty-three years. Those left behind to treasure his memory include his loving wife: Tana Bays of Viburnum, MO; daughter: Brooklyn Pearrow and husband Maverick of Bald Knob, AR; step-children: Lacey Turnbough and husband Justin of Davisville, MO and Devin Griffin and wife Kelly of Steelville, MO; brother: Leroy Bays of Viburnum, MO; grandchildren: Levi, Grayson, Jeremy, Jayden, CeCelia, and Olivia; nieces: Destiny Nash and husband Wyatt and Savannah Hall and husband Jaymes; great-nieces and nephews: Rhett, Reba, Lucy, and Drake; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Leo and Barbara Bays; grandparents: Edward and Pearl Asher, Homer and Leona Bays; and his step-grandfather: Pern Hopkins. Leon was a down to earth kind-hearted man. He always made you feel welcome and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved making others happy, and it made him happy to make others laugh. Leon will be forever missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Leon Leo Bays were held Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Pastor Adam Asher and Pastor Bradley Asher officiating. Special Music was provided by Rich Key, April Greer, and Jordan Isakson and Friends. Serving as Pallbearers were Jarred Brown, Trevor Hutchens, Ronnie Abney, Kenny Davis, Cody Wilson, and Tommy Brown. Honorary Pallbearers were Jordan Isakson, Darrel Blevens, Bill Adams, Corey Schneider, Ray McCulloch, Del Hobson, Braden VanKirk, and Dave Declue. Burial was in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery.
