Marvin Dean Givens

Marvin Dean Givens was born August 11, 1960 in Salem, Missouri to Lloyd and Viola (Story) Givens. He attended elementary school at Green Forest and high school at Salem. Marvin Dean was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ruth Aline Evans, on June 16, 1978 in Salem and together shared forty-three years of love and laughter. Marvin Dean was a hard-working man always providing for his family. He started working at 14 years old in his uncle's sawmill and went on to hold a variety of jobs including local gas stations, Railroad Tie Yard, then went to Classic Hardwoods and was later employed at Kraft-Craig Distributing Company. Marvin Dean went into the construction field as a crane operator, a trade he was very proud of as there are very few people in that position. Marvin Dean enjoyed time outdoors, whether he was in the woods hunting or at the river fishing. He had perfected his method of making homemade jerky and always had extra to share. Marvin Dean was a buff of Jadwin history. He loved the Jadwin Community and was very satisfied owning and operating Jadwin Outpost. He truly enjoyed neighbors and passersby alike stopping in for great food, a necessity, or a great story. Marvin Dean was a wonderful storyteller and a good listener as well for those in need of a caring friend. Marvin Dean had a deep love for his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He attended Salem Church of Christ in his younger years. Marvin Dean departed this life January 13, 2022 in Jadwin, Missouri at the age of sixty-one years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Ruth Givens of Jadwin, MO; children: Jeremy Givens and wife Melissa of Moncks Corner, SC, Jason Givens and wife Michelle of Myrtle Beach, SC, Candice Christofferson and husband Chris of Stafford Springs, CT; grandchildren: Alex Givens, Ashlyn Stricklin, Abby Givens, Amelia Givens, Emma Givens, Erica Christofferson, Wayne Stricklin, David Christofferson, Liam Givens, Aubry Christofferson, and Zoey Givens; siblings: Doug Givens and wife Jan of Salem, MO, Don Givens and wife Diana of Alabama, and Beth Jackson of Salem, MO; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death, parents: Lloyd and Viola Givens; and one sister: Kathy Shults. Marvin Dean will be remembered as a good natured, hard working, loyal family man. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial Gathering for Marvin Dean Givens was held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel.
