Mildred Marie (Bounds) Davidson Crain

Mildred Marie (Bounds) Davidson Crain was born on August 17, 1932, in Rat, Missouri to Jesse Calvin and Anna deLona (Akins) Bounds and passed away on November 4, 2020, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years. Mildred grew up in the Bunker area and attended Black Hills School. She was united in marriage to Earnest Wayne Davidson on October 15, 1949 and together blessed with two daughters: Norma and Janet. Mildred later married, Raymond James Crain on December 19, 1970 and shared thirty years of memories before his passing in 2001. Mildred and Raymond shared five children: Linda, Steve, Stanley, Debra, and Sheila. Mildred was a hard worker and knew the value of hard work. She taught her daughters how to cook and sew; everything they needed to know to run a home. Mildred was an entrepreneur at heart and ran several businesses to include Mildred’s Donut Shop and Mildred’s Quilt Shop. In her early years, Mildred worked at Thrifty Five and Ten and later Wal-Mart, retiring twice. Mildred was a sweet and kind lady who never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile. Mildred was happiest when she was working with her hands; she liked to sew and quilt and was very talented in her work. Mildred was a woman of faith and a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Most important to her were her family, she was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed cooking family dinners. Mildred cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her daughters: Norma Simmons of Salem, MO and Janet Davidson of Salem, MO; step-children: Steve Crain of St. Louis, MO, Stanley Crain and wife Monica of St. Louis, MO, Debra McKibbin of St. Louis, MO, and Sheila Hatcher and husband Mike of Bunker, MO; sister: Lorene Lanham of Bunker, MO; brother-in-law: Don Davidson of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law: Mary Happel of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Lisa Dewitt and husband Bill of Salem, MO, Sam Simmons and fiancé Renee of Salem, MO, Amanda Burnham and husband Steve of Carthage, MO, Jeremy Wisdom of Salem, MO, and James Wisdom of Salem, MO; great-grandchildren: Tara and husband Travis, Sara and husband Dean, Blake, Brandon, Jordan and husband Logan, Jared, Jason, Jessica, Joyanna, and Jonah; great-great-grandchildren: Easton, Jase, Wyatt, Myles, Kaylee, Marceline, Elias, RyLnn, and Addi; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, Wal-Mart Family, and friends. Preceding her in death were her husbands: Raymond Crain and Earnest Davidson; parents: Jesse and Anna Akins; step-daughter: Linda Horan; brothers: George Swiney and wife Cel, Raymond Swiney and wife Eula, and Gene Bounds; sister: Lena Wells and husband Doyle; sisters-in-law: Betty Davidson and Shirley Evans and husband Raymond. Mildred leaves behind a legacy of honor and love for her family. Mildred will be forever remembered and deeply missed. Funeral Services for Mildred Marie (Bounds) Davidson Crain were held Sunday, November 8, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Stacey Crocker shared the obituary and special memories. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “Angel Band”, “Go Rest High on that Mountain”, and “One More Step”. Serving as Pallbearers were Sam Simmons, Steve Burnham, Bill Dewitt, Jared Wisdom, Jason Wisdom, and Jeremy Wisdom. Burial was in the Black Oak Cemetery, Marshfield, Missouri. The Family was served by Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Mildred Marie Crain to the SMDH-LTC Christmas Fund and left at Wilson Mortuary.
