Mildred Irene (Gallion) Sanders-Gottfried

Mildred Irene (Gallion) Sanders-Gottfried was born on March 11, 1930 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Robert and Dorothy (Blackwell) Gallion. Mildred was one of six children and attended Neosho School. At the age of sixteen, she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was baptized in the cold Elkhorn Creek near Bethpage. Mildred met the love of her life, Norman Verl Sanders at the local Cafe, and they were united in marriage on May 19, 1946. Mildred and Norman made their home on the farm where they raised their three children: Donnie, Dorothy, and Phyllis. Mildred took great pride in raising her family and helping on the farm. Mildred was a devoted Christian who supported her husband in his ministry work since 1949. Throughout the years they served at several Baptist churches to include Westside, Mount Gibson, and Berean. Mildred ministered in a variety of areas and some of her fondest moments were volunteering in the nursery. She was a kind and caring woman, who was always willing to help those in need. Mildred was a wonderful example of a Christian lady who touched the lives of many. She was a great mentor and devoted member of Faith Baptist Church. Mildred and Norman established Buckhorn Carpet in 1968 and served the area as a family-owned and operated business for many years before retiring. They were a pillar in the community, they loved people, and people loved them back. Mildred and Norman together shared fifty-six years of wonderful memories before his passing on June 4, 2002. Mildred later married Ryszard “Richard” Gottfried on November 15, 2009 and together gifted nine years before his passing on February 28, 2018. She devoted her life to be a supporting, loving, and nourishing wife. Mildred enjoyed spending her time crocheting afghans, blankets, hats, and scarves for her family and friends. She treasured family gatherings during holidays and other special events. Above all, her greatest memories were those spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mildred entered her heavenly forever home on February 11, 2021 at the age of ninety years. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, son: Donnie Sanders and wife Katie of Richland, MO; daughters: Dorothy Marr and husband Denny of Republic, MO and Phyllis Winfrey and husband Clyde of Richland, MO; brother: Bob Gallion and wife Carol of Florida; sister: Jane Schlater and husband Jack of Texas; grandchildren: Tracia McGuire and husband Mark, Shonda Harland, Brent Atterberry, Craig Miller, Chris Sanders and wife Teresa, Amy Riley, Jessica Howe and husband Toby, Emily Beshears, and Aaron Marr; great-grandchildren: Sheranda, Taylor, Clayton, Jake, Joe, Josh, Ashlynn, Kelcie, Hailey, Allison, Adrienne, BradLee, Brandi, Kody, Eric, Kristen, Newt, Nicholas, Noah, Keira, Amia, Makenna, Nathan, Gretchen, Caitlyn, and Shalaya; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding her in death, loving husbands: Norman Sanders and Richard Gottfried; parents: Robert and Dorothy Gallion; sisters: Solavah Taylor, Lavilla Shaffer, and Dean Sweger; granddaughter: Lilli Ann. Mildred was one of a kind, talented, generous, dedicated to family, and lived life to the fullest. Her contagious smile, words of advice, and little jokes will never be forgotten. Mildred was a true example of a virtuous woman; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Mildred Irene (Gallion) Sanders-Gottfried were held Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville, Missouri with Pastor Danny Graves and Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Special Music was provided by pianist Gladys White and soloist Denny Marr singing "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness". Serving as Pallbearers were John Baxter, Tracy Storie, Tim Gormley, Phil Todd, Buzz Hendrix, Bobby Weaver, and Jeremy Gormley. Honorary Pallbearer was David Marlow. Burial was in the Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
