Roberta Mae Bowen

Roberta Mae Bowen was born September 12, 1944, in Ironton, Missouri, to Woodrow Oscar and Suda Rozella (Volner) Bowen. She passed away December 28, 2023, in Boss, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years. Roberta had a spark for life and enjoyed the simple things. In her younger years, she liked chasing butterflies and swinging on the porch swing. Roberta enjoyed looking at magazines and stacking beads just to knock them down. She loved cuddling with her stuffed animals that played music and often played with her musical toys. Roberta treasured her family above anything else. She had a strong bond with her siblings and cherished spending time with her nieces and nephews. Roberta often attended Locust Grove United Baptist Church with her mom and family. Roberta is survived by her loving siblings: Judy Bowen of Wasilla, AK, Beverly Martin and husband Jerry of Boss, MO, and Randy Bowen and wife Elaine of Bunker, MO; sister-in-law: Paulette Bowen of Ellington, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents Woodrow and Rozella Bowen; brother: Woodrow “Sonny” Bowen; and her nephew: Jason. Anyone who met Roberta knew what a special lady she was. She might have lived a simple life, but the lessons we learned from her were far from simple. Roberta was loved deeply and will be missed by many. Funeral Services for Roberta Mae Bowen were held Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Pastor Denny Mathes officiating. Special Music was provided by Denny Mathes and additional song selections played were “I’ll Fly Away” and “Precious Memories”. Serving as Pallbearers were Randy Bowen, J.R. Bowen, Matthew Bowen, Gabriel Bowen, Jerry Martin, and Joe Martin. Honorary Pallbearer was Christopher Bowen. Burial was in the Myers Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Viburnum, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Roberta Bowen to the Shriners Children’s Hospital and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
