Ronal "Ron" Lee Land

Ronal “Ron” Lee Land was born August 24, 1947, in Dent County, Missouri to Ray Lloyd and Dollie Faye (Counts) Land. He grew up in Dent County and graduated with the class of 1965 from Salem High School. On August 20, 1965, Ron was united in marriage to the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann Green. In their fifty-eight years together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, and countless memories. Ron and Elizabeth were blessed with two daughters: Melissa and Tracy. Ron was a dedicated family man, hard worker, and took great pride in providing for his family. Throughout his working career, he worked at the mines, helped build the Independent Stave Company, and retired as a supervisor from the charcoal plant. Ron had a passion for horse racing, a passion that took him all over the states, as both an owner and an avid fan of the sport. He looked forward to the races with great anticipation and was satisfied watching his horses graze in his field. Ron was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting for deer and coyotes with his brother Jack. He loved his family dearly and looked forward to family gatherings. His life’s treasures were his daughters, grandson, and the special great-grandson that brightened his world. Ron departed this life June 9, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years. He is survived by his loving wife: Elizabeth “Liz” Land of Salem, MO; daughter: Tracy Land and Heidi Hamor of Phoenix, AZ; brothers: Bill Land and wife Jill of Salem, MO and Dennis Land of Salem, MO; sister-in-law: Phyllis Land of Salem, MO; grandson: Robert “Bo” Dooley and wife Bonnie of New Haven, MO; great-grandson: Zeke; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his daughter: Melissa Muhale; parents: Ray and Dollie Land; brother: Jack Land; and an infant brother: Ray Land. Ron will be remembered for his love for family and friends and his steadfast faith in God. He leaves behind a great legacy and long-lasting memories to cherish. Ron will be forever missed. Memorial Services for Ronal “Ron” Lee Land were held Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “He Stopped Loving Her Today”, “Old Friends”, and “I Need Never Get Old”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Ron Land to the National Kidney Foundation and left with Wilson Mortuary.
