Sherman Ray Golden

Sherman Ray Golden was born October 8, 1944, in Salem, Missouri to Ray and Lorene (Howell) Golden. He grew up in his parents loving home in Salem and attended a small country school named West Shady Grove. Sherman entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in August of 1967. Sherman was united in marriage to the love of his life, Glenna, on October 13, 1967 in Salem, Missouri and together shared fifty-five years of marriage. Sherman and Glenna were blessed with one son: Keith. Sherman took great pride in providing for his family. He was employed with International Shoe Factory for many years and later with Salem R-80 School for several years before his retirement. Sherman loved making memories with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard. In his spare time, Sherman enjoyed camping at the lake. Sherman entered into eternal rest December 13, 2022 at the age of seventy-eight years. He is survived by his loving wife: Glenna Golden of Salem, MO; son: Keith Golden and wife Lorie of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Kirsten Golden, Brett Capps, and Canyon Goodbar and wife Tiffany; seven great-grandchildren: as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his parents: Ray and Lorene Golden; and one sister: Shirley Anderson. Sherman was a humorist and will be remembered for his words of wisdom. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Sherman Ray Golden were held Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger officiating. Special Instrumental Music was provided by Brett Capps. Special Music was provided by Charlie Younger singing “Where the Roses Never Fade” and additional song selection played was “Go Rest High on that Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were Wade McCarter, Darrin Pryor, Chad Conway, Sean Pryor, Dylan Pryor, and Wade Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers were Steve Pryor, Curtis Pryor, Robert Hagen, Lavern Stricklin, Arley Parker, and Junior Anderson. Military Honors was provided by the Missouri Honors Team.
