Alma Gertrude (Conway) Coleman

Alma Gertrude (Conway) Coleman was born March 9, 1936, in Sinking Creek, Missouri. She was one of eight children born to Arnie and April (Goforth) Conway. Alma grew up in the Bunker and Salem Communities and started working at a young age. On April 9, 1982, she was united in marriage to Michael Coleman. She was blessed with one daughter, Judy Ann, who was her pride and joy. She adored her daughter and cared for her selflessly until her passing in 1986. Alma was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. If you needed anything, she was there for you. Alma was a hard worker and worked in housekeeping for many years. Throughout her working career, she was employed with several hospitals in St. Louis and St. Joseph, Missouri before working at the Ranch Motel. Alma also worked at a shoe factory in St. Louis. In her spare time, Alma enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She used her talent to make several gifts to give away to include crocheted house shoes. She enjoyed fishing at Shawnee Mac Lakes, loving her fur babies, and tending to her flowers. Alma was a lady of faith and member of Salem Freewill Baptist Church. Alma entered eternal rest March 15, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of forty-one years: Michael L. Coleman of Salem, MO; brothers-in-law: Raymond Coleman of Quincy, IL and Mark Coleman of Moscow Mills, MO; sister-in-law: Linda Coleman of St. Louis County, MO; nieces and nephews: Randy Conway and wife Mandi, Bonnie Brooks and fiancé Jimmy Walker, Tammy Winkelman and husband Leon, David Bunch and wife Kriste, Gene Bunch and wife Shelly, Tim Bunch, Kathy Harman and husband Richard, James Conway, Angela Blattel, Teagan Harman, Wyatt Davis, Faith Blattel, Brenda Brown and husband Jim, Danny Conway, Robert Conway, Faye Ann Pyatt and husband Edward; as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her daughter: Judy Ann Wilson; parents: Arnie and April Conway; siblings: Ernest P. Conway, Mary Lou Prugh, Willis Conway, Lou Gene Conway, Clella Conway, Carol Conway, Johnny Conway, and Connie Niekamp; and nephews: Michael Ernest Conway, Jimmy Allen Conway, and Johnny Dale Conway. Alma was well-liked by many and will be remembered for her fun-loving, slightly onery, caring, and wonderful personality. She will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Alma Gertrude (Conway) Coleman were held Thursday, March 21, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Bacon Jr. officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace”, “I Know A Man Who Can”, and “Sissy’s Song”. Serving as Pallbearers were Leon Winkelman, James Conway, Angela Blattel, Josh Neff, Gene Bunch, Elijah Bacon, and Richard Harman. Burial was in the Conway Cemetery, Bunker, Missouri.
