Anna Mae (Matlock) Hudson

Anna Mae (Matlock) Hudson was born March 30, 1926, in Lenox, Missouri. She was the daughter of George Monroe and Lucy Ellen (Callahan) Matlock. Anna grew up in Lenox with her five siblings. Anna was united to marriage to Leo Thomas Hudson, November 12, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri. Anna and Leo cherished nearly thirty-two years together before his passing April 16, 1990. They were blessed with eight children: George “Ken”, Thomas, Joseph, Franklin, Lawrence, Deborah, John, and Donna. Anna was an amazing mother and took great pride in raising her family. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen baking, outdoors in her garden, and attending the Farmers Market selling her canned goods and homemade bread. Anna and Leo also set up a booth at the Vichy Flea Market. Anna was a talented seamstress and was employed by Rawlings, Salem Sportswear, and Barrads Lingerie where she primarily sewed in zippers in coats and jeans. She loved to sew and could make and repair any type of garment. Many knew Anna as an extraordinary seamstress, but her passion was quilting, which showed in her beautiful quilts. Anna was full of love and joy. She was caring, supportive, comforting, gentle, and tough. Anna’s family was very important to her and she valued spending time with them. Making memories with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren are times she treasured most. Anna was a faithful member of Anutt Community Church where she enjoyed attending when she was able. Her generosity and kindness radiated brightly through her. She was also a member of the Lenox Homemakers’ Club. Anna entered into eternal rest on October 12, 2022, in Salem, Missouri at the age of ninety-six years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving children: Thomas Hudson and wife Judy of Joplin, MO, Joseph Hudson of St. James, MO, Deborah Hobson of Salem, MO, John Hudson of Lecoma, MO, and Donna Glidewell of St. James, MO; eighteen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Leo Hudson; sons: Ken Hudson, Franklin Hudson, and Lawrence Hudson; daughter-in-law: Barbara Hudson; parents: George and Lucy Matlock; and siblings: Clinton Matlock, Clyde Matlock, Dona Moreland, James Matlock, and Harriet Ketchum. Anna leaves behind a great legacy to continue in the lives of those who loved her most. She will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Anna Mae (Matlock) Hudson were held Monday, October 17, 2022 in Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Doyle Wools officiating. Song selections played were “Old Rugged Cross”, “Gospel Changes”, “Amazing Grace”, “Lady May”, “Will The Circle Be Unbroken”, and “Dancing In The Sky”. Serving as Pallbearers were Justin Glidewell, George Hudson, Christopher Hudson, Tim Hudson, Dennis Boster, and Clyde “Monty” Matlock. Honorary Pallbearers were Terry Hudson, Marshall Matlock, and John Hudson. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Anna Mae Hudson to the Lenox Community Center, Mt. Herman Cemetery, or Berry Cemetery and left at Wilson Mortuary.
