Babby Lynn (Hutchens)Strouse was born on October 1, 1960, in Clinton, Indiana, to Edward and Mildred (Kester) Hutchens. Babby moved to Salem, Missouri in 1964, and graduated from Salem High School with the class of 1978. Throughout her life, Babby was known for her independent spirit and her "fisty and sassy" personality. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. She married Ronald Stephan Sr., with whom she shared the joy of raising two children, before later finding happiness again with her husband, Michael Strouse, whom she married on July 30, 2010. Their years together were filled with cherished memories. Babby was a skilled seamstress, a testament to her love and dedication to the trade. She also worked at the International Shoe Factory, as a prison guard, and at the Coke Plant. Outside of work, Babby found simple joy in the beauty of nature, particularly hummingbirds and flowers. Her grandchildren brought her immense pride and joy; she was a proud and loving Grandma. Babby entered eternal rest March 19, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family at the age of sixty-four years. She is survived by her loving husband Mike Stouse; son: Ronald Stephan and wife Marley; daughters: Sunshine Strouse and Amanda Clark and husband Rob; stepdaughter: Amanda Heard; sister: Jeanie McElfresh and husband Stanley; brothers and sisters-in-law: Carl Strouse, Margretta Huble, Phyllis Crocker, and Helen Davis; grandchildren: Kaitlynn Stephan, Ty Rouse, Gage Stephan, Gunner Stephan, Tyler Hargett, Dustin Hargett, Raishell Heard, Kyla Heard, and Eva May; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Edward and Mildred (Kester) Hutchens; infant grandson: Eli Hargett; brothers: Doug Hutchens, Carl Hutchens, and Andy Hutchens; sister-in-law: Kathy Shepherd; brothers-in-law: Willis Strouse, Larry Strouse, and Harold Strouse. Babby will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, a testament to a life lived fully and with unwavering spirit. Funeral Services for Babby Lynn (Hutchens) Strouse were held Monday, March 24, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Jerrod Shepherd officiating. Song selections played were “Please Come Down To Me”, “Jesus Take The Wheel”, “Silver Wings”, and “Angels Among Us”. Serving as Pallbearers were Ty Rouse, Tyler Hargett, Dustin Hargett, Rob Clark, Jason McElfresh, and Justin Shepherd. Honorary Pallbearers were Gage Stephan, Gunner Stephan, Jerry Shepherd, Corey Shepherd, and Kendall Strouse. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
