"BANJO" Kevin Dean Nichols

Kevin Dean Nichols was born April 26, 1961, in Pekin, Illinois, to Richard Dean and Joan Emma (Martin) Nichols. Kevin was known to many by his call name “BANJO”. He grew up in Illinois and spent his summers with family at Red Bluff in Davisville, Missouri. Kevin graduated in 1979 from high school and furthered his education with several college classes. In his early twenties, BANJO made Boss, Missouri, his home. He enjoyed the open road and worked as an over the road truck driver at Rees Trucking Company in Licking. BANJO enjoyed the outdoors. He could be found near the woods looking for mushrooms and deer hunting. He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time at Clearwater Lake and Bagnell Dam. BANJO liked to stargaze and talk on his CB Ham Radio. BANJO was a proud uncle and loved his nieces and nephews as his own. He treasured spending time making memories with them and loved watching them grow. BANJO was a family man the glue that held it together. BANJO passed away November 29, 2023, in the peace of his home, in Howes Mill, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years. He is survived by his loving mother: Joan Nichols of Boss, MO; siblings: Dorothy Savell of Warsaw, MO, John Nichols of Boss, MO, and Melinda Bowen of Ellington, MO; nieces and nephews: Joshua Wubben, Skyler Wubben and wife Carrie, Brandon Savell, Eli Savell, Johnathon Nichols, Cory Nichols, Kayla Nichols, Faith Gregory, Kari Nichols, Travis Bowen, and Bryton Bowen; great-nieces and nephews: Khleea, Zyla, Zayden, Korbyn, Lydia, Ryker, and Nova; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his father: Richard Nichols. BANJO will be remembered for his kind heart and generous spirit. He will forever be missed by those who loved him most. Memorial Services for “BANJO” Kevin Dean Nichols were held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Boss Assembly of God Church with Pastor Elvie Hedrick officiating. Song selections played were “Lead Me Home”, “Space Odyssey”, and “Time After Time”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
