Barbara Ann (Stokes) Sanders

Barbara Ann (Stokes) Sanders was born January 22, 1960, in Leadville, Colorado to Alfred and Catherine (Thomure) Stokes. She grew up in Salem, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1979 from Salem High School. Barb was united in marriage March 21, 1981 to her high school sweetheart, Timothy Ray Sanders. Barb and Tim enjoyed nearly forty-six years of memories together and were blessed with two sons: Jacob and Jordan and later blessed with eight precious grandchildren. Barb’s greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. Tirelessly investing into their lives with her time and love, “Nana” made each and every one feel as if they were her favorite of all. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Gardening with her grandchildren, hiking, fishing, camping and traveling were some of her favorite pastimes. She lived life to the fullest alongside her husband, family and her close, dear friends. She was a lady of strong faith and a faithful servant at New Harmony Church. She was kind, caring, hospitable, sweet, and always quietly helping others. Barb loved preparing meals for those battling illness or loss. She was truly the shining light in the lives of those around her. Barb entered into the arms of Jesus January 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty-two years. She leaves behind her loving husband Tim Sanders of Salem, MO; sons: Jacob Sanders and wife Tashina of Salem, MO and Jordan Sanders and wife Bailey of Salem, MO; sister: Diane Schafer and husband Mike of Lyman, WY; brother: Jeff Stokes and wife Rebecca of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Judson, Jett, Sadie Jo, Leah, Easton, Tanner, River, and Nova; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, parents: Alfred and Catherine Stokes. Barb lived life with a passion and loved unconditionally. Her contagious laugh, sparkling blue eyes and endless smile brought joy to any that knew her. Barbara leaves behind a wonderful legacy and lasting impact on those who were blessed to know her. Funeral Services for Barbara Ann (Stokes) Sanders were held Friday, January 13, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor David Gidcumb and Pastor Noah Schlag officiating. Special Music was provided by Katie Steelman and Beckie Reidle singing “Beulah Land”. Additional song selections played were “Place No Wreath”, “The Commission”, and “Amazing Grace”. Serving as Pallbearers were David Sanders, Nathan Kitchen, Shawn Kiesling, Steve Scheets, Israel Sanders, and Joshua Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers were Judson Sanders, Jett Sanders, Leah Sanders, Easton Sanders, Tanner Sanders, Sadie Jo Sanders, and River Sanders. Burial was in the Roberts Cemetery, Sligo, Missouri.
