Benjamin Stanley Wilson Sr.

Benjamin Stanley Wilson Sr. was born January 20, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia to William Jackson and Mary E. (Brown) Wilson. He grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Fulton High School. Benjamin enlisted into the United States Army February 2, 1971 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge August 24, 1973. During his time in the military, he earned the Bronze Star Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Benjamin met the love of his life, Joyce Russell, while in Pueblo, Colorado. The two fell in love and were united in marriage June 28, 1970, sharing together fifty-two years of memories. Benjamin and Joyce were blessed with four children: MaryAnne, Benjamin Jr., Joseph, and Andrea. Benjamin was a jack of all trade and throughout the years worked several hands on jobs. He worked many years in the Heating and Cooling field. Benjamin liked working with his hands and took great pride in supporting his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at the pond and making memories with his family. Benjamin loved family gatherings; he adored his grandchildren and cherished his great-grandchildren. He also had a love for his fur babies, Trapper, Boots, and Hawkeye. Benjamin was a man of faith and longtime member of Gladden Baptist Church. He truly enjoyed attending Sunday School and Sunday Worship Services. His faith, along with family and friends was most important to him. Benjamin departed this life August 27, 2022, in Columbia, Missouri at the age of seventy-two years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Joyce Wilson of Salem, MO; children: MaryAnne Twomey and husband Robert of Salem, MO, Benjamin Wilson Jr. and wife Renee of Temple, GA, Joseph Wilson and wife April Counts of Salem, MO; and Andrea Maley and husband Ben of Conyers, GA; grandchildren: Chasity Corkill and husband Baxley, Amber Stephenson and husband Dakota, Kirk Wilson and wife Tori, Jessie Wilson and wife Rachel, Haley Summers and husband Jose Salazar, Kayleigh Wilson, Timothy and Jerry Twomey; Emma, William, and Rebecca Counts; and Eli and Owen Maley; great-grandchildren: Bailey, Everleigh, Ellijah, Aiden, Willow, Brantley, and Benjamin; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, parents: William and Mary Wilson and brother: Charles Samuel Wilson. Benjamin will be remembered for the love he had for his family and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be forever missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Benjamin Stanley Wilson Sr. were held Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Jim Privett officiating. Song selections played were “Touch Your Woman”, “Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”. Serving as Pallbearers were Jessie Wilson, Kirk Wilson, Jerry Twomey, Timothy Twomey, Joseph Wilson, Eli Maley, Owen Maley, and Jose Salazar. Honorary Pallbearer was Scotty Knaack. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and Missouri Honors Team. Burial was in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
