Bessie Melvina (Bowen) Quick

Bessie Melvina (Bowen) Quick was born January 27, 1940 in Elvins, Missouri to William Franklin and Nellie (Faulkner) Bowen. On January 24, 1958, she was united in marriage to the love of her life James Edward Quick. Bessie and James were blessed with one daughter and six sons. Bessie loved flowers, especially roses, and plants of all kind. She liked watching game shows, Monday Night Raw and Walker Texas Ranger were her favorites. Bessie enjoyed doing word searches and puzzle books. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing. Bessie was one of kind and a friend to many. She was well informed, if you wanted to know something about someone, if she knew them, she could tell you something. Her fondest moments were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Bessie entered into rest January 25, 2023, in Salem, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years. She is survived by her loving children: Dennis Quick and wife Sherry, Cecil Quick and friend Teresa Lewis, Jake Quick, Gurnie Quick and friend Hiawatha Meyers; and Jamie Quick and wife Karen all of Salem, MO; sister: Frances Rutheford of Fredricktown, MO; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, her husband of sixty-one years: James Quick; son: James Quick Jr.; daughter: Linda Darling Downing; father: William Bowen; mother: Nellie Bowen-Sampson; brother: Gurnie Bowen and wife Geraldine; sister: Geneva Merritt; and great-grandsons: Ashton Jaymes Thomas and Devin Charles Brown. Bessie was loved by one and all. She will be forever missed but never forgotten. Funeral Services for Bessie Melvina (Bowen) Quick were held Sunday, January 29, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Wendell Light and Everett Enloe officiating. Song selections played were “Peace In The Valley”, “Old Rugged Cross”, and “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You”. Serving as Pallbearers were Bill Bettigrew, Zack Quick, Adam Parker, Jake Bausch, Brian Quick, Jerry Quick, and Brad Quick. Honorary Pallbearers were Wayne Quick, Mike Bowen, Mark Downs, Brandon Quick, Robert Heard, and Raishelle Mitchell. Burial was in the Round Pond Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Bessie Quick to help with Final Expenses and left at Wilson Mortuary.
