Betty Jean (Martin) Flatt

Betty Jean (Martin) Flatt was born on March 13, 1936 in Shannon County, Missouri to Lennie and Delma Avis (Howell) Martin and passed away October 17, 2019 in St. Charles, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years. Betty grew up and attended school in Salem, Missouri. On March 15, 1952 in Salem, Missouri, Betty was united in marriage to Clyde Bennett Flatt and the two were blessed with four children: Bennett, Barbara, Bruce and Brenda. Betty was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family. After her children were grown, she worked at JCPenny's for fifteen years. Betty had a passion for quilting and was very creative with her designs. She enjoyed being outside and using her "green thumb" in her flower beds. Most of all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved and was very proud of. Betty was a member of the Arlington Methodist Church and enjoyed the time of fellowship there. Betty is survived by her three children: Bennett Flatt and wife Debi, Barbara Hendricks and Brenda Skrivan and husband Jeff; six grandchildren: Kerri Buck and husband Dennis, Dala Billingsley and husband Jason, Bryan Flatt and wife Amy, Brittney Steinbruegge and husband Michael, Daniel Skrivan and Molly Theismann and husband Joseph; six great-grandchildren: Zaney, Kami, Wade, Dylan, Brooklyn and Marleigh; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde Bennett Flatt; son: Bruce Flatt; parents: Lonnie and Avis Martin; brother: Bill Martin. Betty was a loving and kind person and will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends. Funeral Service for Betty Jean Flatt was held at Monday, October 21, 2019 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Doyle Wools officiating. Song selections played were "Dancing in the Sky", "Sissy's Song", "Knowing What I Know About Heaven" and "On Eagle's Wings". Serving as Pallbearers were: Joseph Theismann, michael Steinbruegge, Daniel Skrivan, Jeffrey Skrivan, Bryan Flatt, Bennett Flatt and Jason Billingsley. Burial was in the Mount Hermon Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction and care of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
