Beverley (Wofford) Whitley

Beverley (Wofford) Whitley was born March 20, 1942 in Salem, Missouri. She was one of three daughters born to Omer Silva and Lillie Fox Wofford. Beverley shared a close bond with her sisters. They were always there to support and lift each other up. On November 26, 1984 Beverley was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Grover “Mike” Whitley, sharing together thirty-eight years of lasting memories. Beverley and Mike were blessed to share four sons: Cheyenne, David, Michael, and Richard Dean. Throughout her working career, Beverley worked at the International Shoe Factory and Hagale Industries. She also worked in the cafeteria at William H. Lynch Elementary School. Beverley enjoyed seeing the students come through the lunch line and always greeted them with a smile. Most important to Beverley was making memories with her family. She loved family get-togethers and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Beverley liked to go people watching at Wal-Mart with Mike while enjoying a cup of coffee in the car. She and Mike also enjoyed several camping trips, usually months at a time, and frequently visiting Sardis, Mississippi. Beverley loved tending to her flower beds and growing African Violets. Beverley was a lifelong member of Revival Tabernacle. When the doors were open, she was there. She truly loved fellowship with her church family. Beverley enjoyed helping with church dinners and attending Sunday School, Morning Worship, and Wednesday night services. Beverley entered into eternal rest February 12, 2023 in Columbia, Missouri at the age of eighty years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: loving husband, Grover “Mike” Whitley of Salem, MO; son, Cheyenne Taylor and wife Stormy of Warrensburg, MO; step-sons, David Whitley and wife Deb of Illinois, Michael Whitley and wife Denise of North Carolina, and Richard Dean Whitley and wife Kim of Maryland; sisters, Bonnie Midkiff of Salem, MO and Emma Bressie and husband Tom of Salem, MO; grandchildren, Calahan and Maddie Taylor, and Sarah, Amy, Brittney, and Elise Whitley; nieces, Sara Seay and Melanie Bell and husband John; as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Omer and Lillie Wofford. Beverley always had a story to share with those around her. She leaves behind a great legacy and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Beverley (Wofford) Whitley were held Thursday, February 16, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Virgil McWhorter and Rev. James Vance officiating. Her lovely niece Melanie shared a special eulogy. Serving as Pallbearers were Calahan Taylor, Michael Whitley, Dean Whitley, J.T. Steelman, Jared Kirker, and Ron White. Honorary Pallbearers were Tom Bressie and John Bell. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
