Beverly Jeanne (White) Powell

Beverly Jeanne Powell, of Salem, Missouri, departed this life, surrounded by family, on April 22, 2024, at the age of ninety-seven years. Beverly was born in Lexington, Missouri, to Arthur and Leola (Conaway) White. She grew up as a child of the Great Depression and had many stories to share about her upbringing. Beverly graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, Missouri, where she met her future husband, Haydn B. Powell. After moving to Salem in 1949 they expanded the family and raised five children over the next two and a half decades. Beverly worked at First National Bank in Salem for many years and during that time had the pleasure of teaching numerous young people the rules of banking. After her retirement from the bank, she assisted her husband with his chiropractic office, until his retirement. Beverly was a charter member of the Cosmopolitan Club, was a member of the First Baptist Church and was devoted to Jesus Christ. She golfed just enough to win one trophy (after the other ladies dropped out when it began to rain, she liked to tell, with that twinkle in her eye and her mischievous grin). Beverly loved to read, play cards, dance, travel, and spend time with family and friends. She was a top-notch matriarch. Preceding her in death were her loving husband: Haydn B. Powell Sr.; son: William L. Powell; parents: Arthur and Leola White; and an infant brother. Beverly is survived by her loving children: Cheryl Echols and husband Dan of Salem, MO, Kay Revelle and Orvin Harris of Sunrise Beach, MO, Haydn Powell Jr. and wife Rose of Osage Beach, MO, and Jeanne Trimmer and husband Marc of Salem, MO; daughter-in-law: Debra Powell of Diamondhead, MS; eleven grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends. Funeral Services for Beverly Jeanne (White) Powell were held Saturday, April 27, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chuck Whitmire officiating. Song selections played were “How Great Thou Art”, “In Christ Alone”, and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Special Music was provided by Lisa Wulff singing “Amazing Grace” at graveside. Serving as Pallbearers were Derric Lough, Ryder Pitts, Jackie Lough, Dr. Matthew Powell, Dr. William Powell Jr., and Curtis Brummitt. Honorary Pallbearers Marc Trimmer, Orvin Harris, and Dan Echols. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Beverly Powell to the Salem Public Library and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
