Bonnie Sue (Wofford) Midkiff

Bonnie Sue (Wofford) Midkiff was born January 15, 1944, in Dent County, Missouri. She was the middle child of three daughters born to Omer Silva and Lillie (Fox) Wofford. Bonnie grew up in Salem and shared a lifelong bond with her sisters. She graduated in 1961 from Salem High School. Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles H. Midkiff on October 17, 1966, and together owned and operated Main Street Café for several years. Bonnie and Charles were blessed with many wonderful years of lasting memories before his passing on November 14, 1989. Bonnie later met her special companion, Herbert Harold Hofer, and together they enjoyed every moment spent with one another until his passing on May 26, 2011. Bonnie and Herb loved attending family gatherings, antiquing, camping, long drives, and flying in Herb’s airplane. They frequently traveled to Branson to enjoy live shows and entertainment. In addition to being a small business owner, Bonnie’s working career included employment at Salem Sportswear Company, International Shoe Company, and Hagale Industries. She had a heart for serving her community and drove an SMTS bus for many years. Bonnie also enjoyed volunteering at S.O.L.V.E. Most important to Bonnie was spending time with her family. Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart. She loved and cherished every one of them as if they were her own. Bonnie liked a good game of dominoes and cards along with keeping herself busy in a crossword puzzle. Bonnie was a lady of great faith and a lifelong member of Revival Tabernacle. She loved the fellowship, love, and support with her church family until her health no longer allowed. Bonnie departed this life October 17, 2023, in Sullivan, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include, her loving sister: Emma Bressie and husband Tom of Salem, MO; brother-in-law: Mike Whitley of Salem, MO; nieces: Sara Seay of Sullivan, MO and Melanie Bell and husband John of Steelville, MO; nephew: Cheyenne Taylor and wife Stormy of Warrensburg, MO; great-nieces and nephews: Jared Kirker and wife Cait, Mikayla Fox, J.T. Steelman, Calahan Taylor, Maddie Taylor, Sela Bell, and John Henry Bell; great-great-nieces and nephews: Jacob, Parker, Bentley, Eli, Maverick, Brooklyn, and Addison; as well as several cousins, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death, husband: Charles Midkiff; special companion: Herbert Hofer; parents: Omer and Lillie Wofford; sister: Beverley Whitley; and nephew: Bryan Bessie. Bonnie will be remembered for her warm, beautiful smile that she freely shared with those around her. She held a special place in many hearts and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Bonnie Sue (Wofford) Midkiff were held Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Virgil McWhorter officiating. Melanie Bell shared the obituary and Sara Seay shared the eulogy. Song selections played were “In My Life”, “It Is Well”, and “I Can Only Imagine”. Serving as Pallbearers were Tom Bressie, Mike Whitley, Cheyenne Taylor, John L. Bell, Jared Kirker, and John Henry Bell. Honorary Pallbearers were Eli and Jacob Fox.
