Carla Margaret (Strong) Bluhm

Carla Margaret (Strong) Bluhm was born June 15, 1964, in Ava, Missouri. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Jesse Willard and Ina (Nickels) Strong. Carla grew up and graduated from high school in Ava. On September 7, 1986, Carla was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jerry Dean Bluhm, in Eldorado County, California. They shared the past thirty-seven years, making lasting memories together. Carla and Jerry were blessed with four children: Matilda, Rose, Jerry, and Nickoma. Carla had found her true calling as a devoted caregiver to the elderly. A role she approached with great dedication and compassion. Carla has blessed the lives of many through her willingness to care for others. The most important thing in Carla’s life was her family. She cared deeply for them and treasured making memories with her grandchildren. Carla enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go spelunking in area caves. She had a passion for gardening and found solace as she tended to her flowers and plants. She liked gathering elderberries, loved to share her garden bounty with others, and was an avid canner. Carla liked to care for her yard and wasn’t afraid to operate a chainsaw. Carla was a longtime member of New Harmony Church where she enjoyed the fellowship for the last twenty-seven years. She was a bold warrior for Christ and had a heart for leading others to the Lord. Carla was a true encourager and faithful servant. Carla entered eternal rest December 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family while at her home in Salem, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband: Jerry Bluhm of Salem, MO; children: Matilda Strong of Wisconsin, Rose Marie Bluhm of Marshfield, MO, Jerry Bluhm II and wife Darian of Salem, MO, and Nickoma Bluhm and wife Chelsi of Salem, MO; brother: Homer Strong and wife Linda of PA; grandchildren: Mithilda, Keya, Krystal, Matthew, Nena, and Zoey; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, her parents: Jesse and Ina Strong; and several siblings. Carla was thoughtful, selfless, caring, kind-hearted, bold, blunt, generous, and joyful. Her bubbly personality, infectious smile, and contagious laugh will never be forgotten. Carla will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Carla Margaret (Strong) Bluhm were held Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at New Harmony Church with Pastor Noah Schlag and Pastor David Gidcumb officiating. Special Music was provided. Serving as Pallbearers were Nickoma Bluhm, Jerry Bluhm II, Nick Harris, Craig Carter, Ethan Gott, and Jeff Glass. Burial was in the New Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Carla Bluhm to Wilson Mortuary to help with Final Expenses.
