Carolyn Denise (McDowell) Flint

Carolyn Denise (McDowell) Flint was born May 1, 1961, in Joliet, Illinois. She was one of four children born to James and Beatrice (Makham) McDowell. Carolyn grew up in Wilmington, Illinois and moved to Salem, Missouri, in 1998. On August 15, 1986, Carolyn was united in marriage to the love of her life, Melvin Robert Flint. The shared the last thirty-seven years creating lasting memories together. Carolyn and Robert were blessed with two children: Kristen and Michael. Carolyn was a devoted wife and loving mother. Carolyn had a long career as a registered nurse. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University, her master’s from the University of Phoenix, and eventually earned her Doctor of Nursing practice at the University of Missouri. She enjoyed working as a clinical nurse specialist and nurse education. Carolyn always displayed love, care, and compassion in all that she did. She had a passion for making a difference in the lives of others through her professional nursing career. Carolyn had a keen interest in keeping a beautiful home and flower garden. She was a talented musician and played the piano, clarinet, and hand bells. She was very dedicated and truly enjoyed sharing her talent with others. Carolyn was a woman of strong faith and member of Salem First Baptist Church. She was certified by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center and Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders. Carolyn entered into eternal rest April 26, 2024, at her home in Salem, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include her loving husband: Robert Flint of Salem, MO; daughter: Kristen (Trevor) Warnol of Dixon, MO; sister: Betty Simon of Wilmington, IL; mother-in-law: Virginia Flint-Hedley of Salem, MO; brother-in-law: Carl (Traci) Flint of Salem, MO; sisters-in-law: Jackie (Harold) Billings of Salem, MO, Dana Willis of Salem, MO, Rebecca Flint of Licking, MO, and Melanie (Tracy) Wilkerson of Dwight, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her son: Michael Flint; parents: James and Beatrice McDowell; sister: Darlene (McDowell) Patton; brothers: Troy McDowell and Larry McDowell; and father-in-law: Melvin Flint. Carolyn made a lasting impact on the lives of many. Her creativity, excellence, dedication, and love will live on forever in those that loved her most. Carolyn will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Carolyn Denise (McDowell) Flint were held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Joel Hayworth officiating. Special Music was provided by pianist Ann Emory and David Hancock singing “Amazing Grace”, “Old Rugged Cross”, and “In The Garden”. Serving as Pallbearers were Jacob Willis, Austin Willis, Colton Billings, Caleb Billings, Grant Billings, and Jason Flint. Honorary Pallbearers were Dubbie Willis, Jeremy Flint, and Cole Smith.
