Carolyn Fern (Watson) Gerber

Carolyn Fern (Watson) Gerber was born February 1, 1966, in Waynesville, Missouri, to Elmer Ellis and Clara Fern (Legan) Watson. She grew up in Laquey, Missouri and graduated in 1984 from Laquey High School. Carolyn furthered her education at Drury University and obtained her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. On October 26, 1991, Carolyn was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Joseph Gerber. Together they shared thirty-one years of love, devotion, and lasting memories. Carolyn and Robert were blessed with three children: Joseph, and twins Megan and Joshua, and later adopted Shawn into their lives. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family. She truly loved being a mother and an aunt. She was their biggest fan and proudly cheered them on and guided them through every obstacle. With patience, compassion, and tenderness she instilled strong moral values and taught them to always strive for the best. Carolyn was a public servant and great asset to Pulaski County where she served in Childrens Division for twenty-eight years. She had a strong passion for protecting children and throughout her career made a difference in the lives of many foster children and families. Carolyn was the twenty-fifth division circuit manager and very passionate about her role. She was a supporting team leader, wonderful teacher, and great mentor. She truly loved her co-workers as family and deeply cared for them. Carolyn had a heart of gold and was a mother to many, often being called “Mama Gerber”. She was welcoming, warm, inviting, and always ready to greet you with a hug. She could light up the room with her vibrant and bright personality, infectious laugh, and great sense of humor. She always had a listening ear and was a rock to many. Carolyn was a woman of great faith, encourager, giver, and mighty prayer warrior. She accepted Christ and was baptized in her younger years. Carolyn was a faithful servant and dedicated member of Buckhorn First Baptist Church where she served in many areas. She was a true inspiration, full of wisdom and love. Carolyn entered into eternal rest July 5, 2023, with her family by her side, at the age of fifty-seven years. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband: Robert Gerber of Laquey, MO; children: Joseph Gerber and Erika of Laquey, MO, Megan Gerber of Springfield, MO, Joshua Gerber and Shiloh of Laquey, MO, and Shawn Mead of El Paso, TX; half-sister: Cynthia Harris of Montana; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, parents: Ellis Watson and Clara (Legan) Watson-Bowden; brother: Andy Watson; uncle: Ralph Legan; and nephew: Noah Legan. Carolyn leaves a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, courage, and strength. Her heart and smile that she shared was bigger than life itself. She was one of the best.
