Catherine B. (Chitwood) Burns

Howdy do to all my lovely people! Catherine (Chitwood) Burns was born July 23, 1956, in Corridon, Reynolds, Missouri. She was one of nine children born to Ottis and Dessie (Bailey) Chitwood. Catherine grew up and attended school in Ellington, Missouri. Catherine was blessed with six children: William, April, Amber, Alfred, Ashley, and Heather. She was a loving mother and dedicated homemaker. Catherine took great pride in raising her family and caring for her home. She loved making memories with her children, cherished her grandchildren, and treasured her great-grandchildren. Catherine enjoyed singing, reading, and writing. She was especially talented and very creative in writing poems. Catherine was known for being a jokester and liked to pull a good prank. She loved to cook for family gatherings and truly loved celebrating Easter. Catherine entered into rest December 16, 2022, in Salem, Missouri at the age of sixty-six years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving children: April Martin and husband Charles, Amber Brawley and Chris Farris, Alfred Burns, Ashley Leonard and husband Kenny, and Heather Blaylock all of Salem, MO; siblings: Sherry Vest and husband Leroy, Nadine Masterson, Maude Stevens, and Nancy Chitwood; grandchildren: Tray, Paige, Brooke, Christopher, Chad, Levi, Lilly, Jessie, Malakia, Daemon, Jasper, Ila, Gaige, and Dmitri; many great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. Catherine is preceded in death by, son: William Burns; parents: Ottis and Dessie Chitwood; siblings: Loren, Dorothy, Anna Mae, and an infant sister. Catherine was a lady of faith and will be remembered for being loving and compassionate to everyone she encountered. She will be forever missed by those who loved her most. Funeral Services for Catherine (Chitwood) Burns were held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “Delta Dawn”, “Lead Me Home”, and “Seven Spanish Angels”. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
