Cory Alen Phipps

Cory Alen Phipps was born on July 17, 1991, in Rolla, Missouri and passed away on August 17, 2021 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of thirty years. Cory was a skilled guitar player and, at one time, a lead singer of a band with his guitar in hand. He enjoyed everything music, from concerts to long car rides. He loved sightseeing. Cory was very artistic and talented at sketching and painting. He loved attending art shows and selling his own paintings. Cory was a master tinkerer and liked fishing, reading books, and playing video games. Cory was a caretaker, influencer, inspirer, encourager, and supporter to all. He was a true comforter, never wanting anyone to be down or sad. Cory was loving, sweet, kind, fair, and understanding. He always put others before himself and always tried to be the better person. Most important to Cory was his family and friends. He was a fiercely loyal, protective brother, treasuring the memories made with his siblings. Cory is survived by his father: William "Bill" Phipps of Salem, MO; mother: Jessica Wood of Salem, MO; sisters: Angel Hunter and husband Andrew of Salem, MO and Heather Oostveen and husband Josh of Waynesville, MO; brother: Dylan Campbell of Valley Park, MO; grandparents: Mike and Helen Wood of Salem, MO; great-grandmother: Betty Wood of Salem, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death, grandparents: Elmer and Patricia Phipps. Cory will be remembered for his courageous attitude, free spirit, generosity, and openness. His selfless nature and genuine personality have impacted the lives of many. Cory will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Cory Alen Phipps were held Saturday, August 21, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Bobby Mathis officiating. Additional speakers were Dylan, Andrew, and Heather. Song selections played were “In Loving Memory” and “Be Still”. A balloon release followed. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Cory Phipps and left at Wilson Mortuary.
