Curtis "Johnny" Conway

Curtis John Conway was born May 17, 1943 in Ellington, Missouri to Arney Lee and April Belle (Goforth) Conway and passed away June 27, 2019 at his home in St. James, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years. As a young boy, Johnny grew up in Ellington, Missouri and attended Timber School. In Steelville, Missouri, October of 1988, Johnny was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Burke. Together they shared twenty-two years of marriage until her passing in 2010. They were blessed with five children: Randy, Bonnie, Kathy, James and Johnny. During his working years Johnny was employed at the International Shoe Factory in Salem and also did some carpet and timber work. He also enjoyed his work on the dairy farm. In his spare time he liked watching western movies and playing on his guitar. When given the opportunity, you could find Johnny near the water fishing and in the woods hunting. Johnny especially cherished his time spent with family. Preceding him in death were his parents, Arney and April Conway; wife, Mary Conway; son, Johnny Dale Conway; siblings, Clella Conway, Mary Lou Prugh, Willis Conway, Ernest Conway, Gene Conway and Connie Niekamp. Johnny is survived by his children, Randy Conway and wife, Mandi of Salem, MO, Bonnie Brooks and fiancé, Jimmy Walker of Salem, MO, Kathy Harman and husband, Richard of Rolla, MO, James Conway of St. James, MO; sister, Alma Coleman and husband, Mike of Salem, MO; grandchildren, Jake Conway and wife, Marissa of Salem, MO, Logan Conway and wife, Jordan of Salem, MO, Dawson Conway of Salem, MO, Jesslyn Hutchings and husband, Danny of Salem, MO, Aaron Brooks of Salem, MO, Jase Walker of Salem, MO, Angela Blattel of Kentucky, Teagan Harman of Rolla, MO, Amanda Murr and husband, Curt of Salem, MO, Goldie Bunch of Fulton, MO, Jessica Conway, Holts Summit, MO, and Nichole Conway of Holts Summit, MO; twelve great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Johnny will be sadly and deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral Service for Curtis "Johnny" Conway was held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Raymond Laramore officiating. Jake Conway sang and played on his guitar, "Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone" and additional song selection, "Go Rest High On That Mountain" was played. Serving as Pallbearers were: Jake Conway, Logan Conway, Dawson Conway, Aaron Brooks, Leon Winkleman and Mike Coleman. Honorary Pallbearers were: Richard Harman and Steve Pool. Burial was in the St. James Cemetery. All arrangements were under the care and direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
