Daniel "Dan" Herbert Bailey

Daniel “Dan” Herbert Bailey was born on September 17, 1953, in Bonne Terre, Missouri to William Herbert and Marie Ida (Buxton) Bailey. He grew up in the Desloge/Viburnum, Missouri area and graduated in 1972 from Viburnum High School. Dan was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Elaine Sue Medley. They were blessed with two daughters: Jennifer and Tiffany who later blessed them with five grandchildren. Dan loved his family and cherished making memories with them. Dan enlisted into the United States Marine Corp October 10, 1972, and served his country honorably for twelve years. During his time in the military, Dan specialized on the CH-46 Sea Knight and CH-53 Sea Stallion Helicopters. He was able to travel the world, some of his service stations were at the Marine Corp Air Station New River, NC, Tustin, CA, Kaneohe Bay, HI, and the Naval Air Station, Millington, TN. Dan served aboard aircraft carriers USS Tripoli and USS New Orleans. He served in two far east tours in Okinawa, Japan and during Desert Storm at the Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy. For his faithful service he earned several decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards. Apart from his military career, Dan continued with his passion for aircraft. He spent over a decade managing a helicopter base in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia. There he worked with the Royal Saudi Air Force and trained civil defense personnel. He wrapped up his career with the Department of Defense serving the Navy and Air Force. In his younger years, Dan enjoyed keeping himself fit by working out and lifting weights. He was an avid gamer and music lover. Dan departed this life August 20, 2023, in St. Robert, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years. Those left behind to treasure his memory are his loving wife: Elaine Bailey of St. Robert, MO; daughters: Jennifer Barton and husband Danny of Camdenton, MO and Tiffany Fazzino of St. Robert, MO; sister: Kathy Jones and husband Don of Columbia, MO; brother: Dr. Ken Bailey and wife Judy of Tokyo, Japan; brother-in-law: Danny Abney; grandchildren: Kristie Williams and husband Jeremy, Richie Troutt and wife Kassy, Ashley Robbins and husband Eric, Carmella Fazzino, and Sofia Fazzino; great-grandchildren: Stephen, Ryker, Joey, Riley, Laynee, Reese, Rhylan, Kelsi, Sadie, and Drake; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his parents: William and Marie Bailey; son-in-law: SFC Joshua Fazzino; sister: Debby Abney; and nephew: Justin Jones. Dan leaves behind a long-lasting legacy. He will be forever missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Daniel 'Dan' Herbert Bailey were held Saturday, August 26, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Viburnum Chapel with Chaplain Dan Phillips officiating. Song selections played were "Lead me Home", "Marine Corp Hymn", "Semper Fi", "Everybody Talks to God", and "Spirit in the Sky". Serving as Pallbearers were Kristi Faughn, Danny Barton, Richie Troutt, Stephen Mack, Ryker Mack, Ronnie White, and Drake Faughn. Honorary Pallbearer was Don Jones. Military Honors was provided by the VFW 6947 and United States Marine Corp Honors Team. Burial was in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery.
