David Charles Powell

David Charles Powell was born December 23, 1945 in Teaneck, New Jersey. He was the only child born to Gerald and Mabel Powell. David grew up in Hackensack, New Jersey. He graduated high school in 1964 and later furthered his education with a few college courses. David was united in marriage to Pauline Parkinson and to this union he was blessed with one son. He was a loving and caring father of David and took great pride in supporting him and his accomplishments. David was later blessed with three grandchildren. He truly adored them and treasured making memories with them. On November 28, 1978, David married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Kay Olds. They enjoyed traveling together, frequently visiting Branson, and took many long road trips throughout the years. David and Sandy were blessed with twenty-nine years of lasting memories before her passing March 12, 2016. David worked as a Hotel Clerk with Tower Inn for twenty-three years. He always enjoyed a good conversation and loved taking care of his customers. His dedication was evident to those around him. Over the years, David and Sandy loved hosting several Foreign Exchange Students and developed lasting relationships with them. He was a very caring, hospitable, generous, and compassionate man. David was a man of great faith. He was a devoted member of Salem First Baptist Church and attended until his health no longer allowed. David entered into eternal rest March 6, 2023 in Salem, Missouri at the age of seven-seven years. He is survived by his loving son: David Powell and wife Bernadette of Strafford, MO; grandchildren: Patrick David Powell, Jonathon Thomas Powell, and Nora Elizabeth Powell; special caregivers: Becky, Chris, and Christine Gibbs; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his wife: Sandy Powell and his parents: Gerald and Mabel Powell. The family would like to thank special friends Becky, Chris, and Christine for the love and care they provided over the years. David was one of a kind and truly a unique character. He especially loved his family and friends and treasured connecting with them. David will be forever missed. Funeral Services for David Charles Powell were held Saturday, March 11, 2023 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Joel Hayworth officiating. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as Pallbearers were David Powell, Patrick Powell, Jonathan Powell, Christopher Gibbs, Cristy Gibbs, and Juanita Martin. Honorary Pallbearer was Nora Powell.
