Delbert Lee Hedrick

Delbert Lee Hedrick was born March 2, 1937, in Bixby, Missouri, to James Edgar and Ruby Lillian (Pryor) Hedrick. After high school, Delbert enlisted into the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully for four years. For his honorable service, he earned several medals, ribbons, badges, and awards. On April 4, 1959, in Salem, Missouri, Delbert was united in marriage to the love of his life, Shirley Hazel Halbert, and to this union blessed with four children: Terry, Tim, Carla, and Laura. Delbert took great pride in supporting his family. He worked in the mines and retired from Doe Run Lead Company after many years of dedication. Delbert was a talented woodworker and loved to share his talent with others. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors going fishing and hunting. Delbert and Shirley shared fifty-one years of lasting memories together before her passing May 3, 2010. He later met his sweetheart, Phyllis Ann (Plogger), and on November 19, 2011, in Boss, Missouri they were united in marriage. Delbert and Phyllis shared nearly twelve years of love and devotion together. Most important to Delbert was his family and the love that he shared with each of them. He adored his grandchildren, cherished his great-grandchildren, and treasured his great-great-grandchildren. If you met him more than a few times you were considered family and held a special place in his heart. Delbert was a man of great faith. He loved to talk with others and share the Bible with them. He was a faithful prayer warrior and valued praying with you. Delbert was a member of Owensville First Assembly of God and served for many years as a Sunday School teacher. Delbert left this earth to go be with his Heavenly Father on September 22, 2023, surrounded by his family in his home in Viburnum, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years. He is survived by his loving wife: Phyllis Hedrick; children: Angie (Barry) Brooks, Terry Hedrick, Tim (Carol) Hedrick, Carla (Woody Jr.) Strange, and Laura (Ronnie) Vance; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, wife: Shirley Hedrick; parents: Edgar and Ruby Hedrick; sister: Karen Sutterfield; and infant brother: Ramey Hedrick. Delbert was known for his great sense of humor and joking nature. You never knew what he was going to say or wear on his head. He worked hard on making those around him laugh and even harder on embarrassing others. Delbert was one of kind and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Delbert Lee Hedrick were held Monday, September 25, 2023, at the Boss Assembly of God Church with Bro. Les Dorty and Pastor Adam Asher officiating. Special Music was provided. Serving as Pallbearers were Ronnie Glen Roper, Cody Hedrick, Tyler Hedrick, Lee Vance, Jason Brooks, and Preston Hedrick. Honorary Pallbearers were Ethan Hedrick, Blake Vance, Christan Thompson, and Luke Hedrick. Military Honors was provided by the Missouri Honors Team and American Legion Post 99.
