Dennis Ray Boxx Jr.

Dennis Ray Boxx Jr. was born April 22, 1947, in Salem, Missouri to Dennis Ray Sr. and Rebecca Louise (Skaggs) Boxx. He grew up in Salem and graduated with the class of 1966 from Salem High School. Dennis enlisted into the United States Navy on August 15, 1966 and served until his honorable discharge on April 17, 1972. Dennis then enlisted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully and honorably until his retirement on April 22, 2007. During his time in the service, Dennis earned many decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards. Dennis was united in marriage to the love of his life, Shirley Jean Treadway, April 7, 1967 and together shared fifty-five years of memories. Dennis and Shirley were blessed with two daughters: Shelly and Kristina. Dennis was a hard worker and started working at the Royal Oak Charcoal Plant in 1971 where he resided until he retired after fifty years of dedication. Dennis was gifted talented hands and enjoyed painting, sketching, and drawing. Many times, he used his talent to create pieces for others. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Dennis was a devoted family man and valued spending time with his family. Making memories with his grandchildren brought him great joy. Dennis was a man of faith and longtime member of Grace Community Church. He loved the Lord, his church family, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dennis departed this life November 6, 2022 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of seventy-five years. He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his loving wife: Shirley Boxx of Salem, MO; daughters: Shelly Zimbelman and husband Todd of Eureka, MO and Kristina Bounds and husband Benji of House Springs, MO; siblings: Danny Boxx and wife Judy of Salem, MO, Beverly Adrian and husband Dale of Alton, MO, and Tommy Boxx of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Dylan, Karen, and Logan; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends. Preceding him in death, his parents: Dennis and Rebecca Boxx and his sister-in-law: Mary Ann Boxx. Dennis leaves a great legacy and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Dennis Ray Boxx Jr. were held Friday, November 11, 2022 at Grace Community Church with Pastor Terry Davis and Pastor Rhonda Barnes officiating. Song selections played were “Going There”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Look For Me At Jesus Feet”. Serving as Pallbearers were Dylan Bounds, Logan Bounds, Karen Zimbelman, Chris Miller, Michael Banks, and Terry Lunyou. Military Honors was provided by the Missouri Honors Team and American Legion Post 99. Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery.
