Donald "Don" Eugene Parker

Donald “Don” Eugene Parker was born September 25, 1944 in Salem, Missouri to Rosel and Lucille. He grew up in Salem and graduated with the class of 1963 from Salem High School. Don enlisted into the Army National Guard and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge. Don was united in marriage to Marilyn Sue Miller on April 28, 1967 and shared together fifty-five years of marriage. Don and Marilyn were blessed with two sons: Scott and Jim and later blessed with four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Don worked hard to provide for his family. He started his working career in the equipment maintenance department at the Amax and Cominco Mines. Don retired from the Salem Housing Authority after many years as their maintenance supervisor. Don liked spending time outdoors on the farm, tending to his cattle, and hunting. Most important to him was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. Don valued the time spent with them and treasured the memories they made together. Don departed this life December 24, 2022 in Salem, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years. He is survived by his loving wife: Marilyn Parker of Salem, MO; son: Jim Parker and wife Michele of Salem, MO; mother: Lucille Middleton of Salem, MO; sister: Wanda Hutchens of Elkland, MO; grandchildren: Paige Ebbs and husband Aaron, Clayton Parker, Lyndsey Parker and fiancé Sean Loughridge, and Dylan Parker; great-granddaughters: Addison and Avery; other relatives family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, son: Scott Parker; father: Rosel Parker; infant brother: Darrel; brother-in-law: Lloyd Hutchens; and father and mother-in-law: Gene and Fern Miller. Don was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Donald “Don” Eugene Parker were held Thursday, December 29, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Bro. Billy Miller officiating. Song selections played were “Knowing What I Know About Heaven” and “Lead Me Home”. Serving as Pallbearers were Jim Parker, Clayton Parker, Dylan Parker, Aaron Ebbs, Sean Loughridge, and Jeff Hays. Honorary Pallbearers were Arley Parker and Jerry Martin. Burial was in the Wofford Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
