Donald "Don" Lee Floyd

Donald Lee Floyd was born September 3, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Ernest and Anna (Lunn) Floyd. Don was raised in the St. Louis area and graduated from Southwest High School. After high school, he enlisted into the Army National Guard and served his country faithfully and honorably for six years. On July 27, 1968, Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Ann Skeeters, with whom he shared fifty-six beautiful years. Their union blessed them with one son, Dennis. Don placed his family at the heart of his life and found immense joy in creating memories with them. A hard worker, he dedicated many years to the warehouse department of the mines. He then started on a rewarding twenty-year career as a custodian with the Green Forest School District, where he left a lasting impact on countless students and staff. Even in retirement, his working nature led him to continue to work while filing shelves at the Walmart Pharmacy. Beyond his professional life, Don was a man of many talents and passions. He found great joy in traveling, woodworking, building and remodeling, constantly creating something new in his basement workshop. His outgoing personality and infectious humor meant he never met a stranger; he was always ready to start a conversation with a kind word. Don, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife: Patricia “Pat” Floyd of Salem, MO; son: Dennis Floyd of Salem, MO; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents: Ernest and Anna (Lunn) Floyd; infant sister; and two brothers: Carl Floyd and wife Ethel and Vernon Floyd and wife Margaret. Don was truly a man who lived life to the fullest. His remarkable life and legacy will serve as a shining example to the lives he has touched along the way. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services for Donald Lee Floyd were held Saturday, April 26, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Ben Pursifull officiating. Special Music was provided by pianist Ann Emory and Lisa Wulff and additional song selection played was “Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone”. Serving as Pallbearers were Mark Lunn, Randy Grauf, Kevin Prugh, Ray Lewis, Randy Skeeters, and Larry Binkley. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
