Donald "Donnie" Lee Hodges

Donald “Donnie” Lee Hodges was born October 19, 1943, at his home in Jadwin, Missouri. He was one of two sons born to Samuel Clark and Beulah Bernadine (Nichols) Hodges. At a young age, Donnie met the love of his life, Olive Louellen Curtis and on August 11, 1962, the two were united in marriage. They shared sixty years of marriage and countless memories. Donnie and Olive were blessed with one son: Don. In 1968, Donnie was drafted into the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge. During his time of service, he drove the bridge tank truck and earned several medals and awards to include the National Service Defense Medal. Donnie was a jack of all trades and was dedicated to working hard for his family. Throughout his working career, Donnie was a cordwood cutter, drove big trucks, cut logs, and worked in the construction field. He was a partner in the Furniture Factory for several years. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman. He liked to hunt, fish, and just enjoy nature. He truly enjoyed woodworking and making picture frames. Donnie was a collector of many things and proudly displayed his collections. He treasured making memories with his family and spending time with his grandsons. Donnie entered into eternal rest April 6, 2023 at his home in Jadwin, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years. Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife: Olive Hodges of Jadwin, MO; son: Don Hodges and wife Iva of Salem, MO; brother: Carol Hodges and wife Kathren of Salem, MO; brother-in-law: Homer Curtis and wife Cindy of Belle, MO; grandsons: Clark Hodges and wife Jocelyn and Curtis Hodges and wife Emily; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death, his parents: Clark and Beulah Hodges. Donnie was a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, caring brother, and good friend. He leaves behind a great legacy of love and devotion. His memory will live on in those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Donald “Donnie” Lee Hodges were held Monday, April 10, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Budd Langley officiating. Congregational Hymns “Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace” were led by Tom Fleener and additional song selections played were “Daddy’s Hands” and “Grandpa, Tell Me Bout The Good Old Days”. Serving as Pallbearers were Clark Hodges, Curtis Hodges, Don Hodges, David Hodges, Mike Hodges, and Eddie Wofford. Honorary Pallbearers were Clint Hodges, Zach Schafer, Justin Lough, and Morgan Reed. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and United States Army. Burial was in the Jadwin Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
