Earlene June (Light) Gant

Earlene June (Light) Gant was born June 30, 1950, in Redford, Missouri to Everett and Louise (Vinson) Light. She was raised in Salem and grew up with six brothers. On December 16, 1969, at the age of eighteen, Earlene was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry Ray Gant. Earlene and Larry shared together fifty-two years of laughter and memories and were blessed with two children, Lisa and Larry Ray Jr. For a time, Earlene was employed with Barad Lingerie and enjoyed her work there. Earlene was most proud of being a dedicated wife, loving mother, and excellent homemaker. Her family was most important to her and she valued the opportunity to care for her home and raise her children. Earlene had a deep love for her granddaughters and cherished the moments spent together. She adored her great-grandson and treasured every visit with him. In her younger years, Earlene liked watching “The Young and the Restless”, she loved to shop and browse stores, as well as find a good bargain at yard sales. Earlene lived life to the fullest, she was a brave and courageous woman who enjoyed the thrill of roller coaster rides. She loved listening to Southern Gospel Music and attending Solid Rock Pentecostal Church. Earlene was passionate about the Lord and witnessing to others. Earlene departed this life March 27, 2022 in Houston, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years. Those who are left to treasure her memory and continue her legacy are her loving husband: Larry Gant Sr. of Salem, MO; daughter: Lisa Blaylock of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Amber Blaylock of Springfield, MO and Emily Roach and husband Chris of Salem, MO; great-grandson: Remington Roach; brothers: Junior Light and wife Diana of Salem, MO; Wendell Light and wife Jill of Salem, MO; and Ronald Light and wife Beth of Salem, MO; sister-in-law: Judy Light of Steelville, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death, son: Larry Ray Gant Jr.; parents: Everett and Louise Light; siblings: Roger Light Sr. and wife Helen, Verl Light, and Hershel Light; and son-in-law: Jim Blaylock. Earlene blessed many lives and had a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her spirit lives on through all that knew and loved her, she will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Earlene June (Light) Gant were held Wednesday, March 27, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Sister Kathy Medlin and Brother Wendell Light officiating. Song selections played were “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow”, “On The Other Side”, “Where Her Heart Has Always Been”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”. Serving as pallbearers were Ron Light, Wendell Light, Junior Light, Roger Light Jr., Chris Roach, and Matt Pax. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
