Floyd Franklin Ellis

Floyd Franklin Ellis was born July 27, 1948, in Doniphan, Missouri. He grew up in a large family, being one of twelve children born to George Homer and Katherine Delitha (Farris) Ellis. Floyd was raised in Doniphan and graduated from Doniphan High School. Floyd enlisted into the United States Army November 21, 1967 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge August 31, 1970. During his time in the military and for his faithful service, he earned many decorations, medals, badges, ribbons, and awards. Floyd started working at a young age with the Chrysler Plant in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a devoted employee and enjoyed building Dodge vehicles. While working at Chrysler, Floyd met his sweetheart, Joyce Ann Thompson. Floyd and Joyce fell in love and were united in marriage July 7, 1977. They were blessed with forty-five years of marriage and shared three children: Richard, Michael, and Eileen. Floyd retired after thirty years of hard work and dedication. He found great pleasure in providing for his home and caring for his family. Floyd cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He valued spending time with them and making memories together. Floyd was an avid outdoorsman, he liked to hunt and fish. He loved working on the farm and tending to his horses and cattle. Floyd looked forward to getting out on the open road and riding his motorcycle. Floyd departed this life on October 30, 2022, at his home in Rosebud, Missouri at the age of seventy-four years. Those left behind to cherish his memory, loving wife: Joyce Ellis of Rosebud, MO; stepchildren: Richard Christian of North Carolina, Michael Christian and wife Cathy of Bay, MO, and Eileen Nelson of Fenton, MO; sisters: Juanita Fitzgerald, Mick Farrow, Brenda Pruitt and husband Dale, Vivian Ehlers and husband Rusty; grandchildren: Rick, Cody, Sam, Ian, and Brittany; great-grandchildren: Xavier, Zane, Molly, Arianna, and one on the way; extended family and dear friends. Preceding him in death, parents: George and Katherine Ellis; and siblings: Dave, Edward, George, Charlie, Ronnie, Virgil, and Hazel. Floyd leaves a great legacy for those who loved him most. He will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Floyd Franklin Ellis were held Thursday, November 3, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Les Dority officiating. Song selections played were “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, and “Going Home”. Serving as Pallbearers were Cody Christian, Sam Christian, Virgil Ellis Jr., Gary Stout, Paul Vincent, and Fred Judd. Military Honors was provided by the American Legion Post 99 and Missouri Honors Team. Burial was in the Stone Hill Cemetery.
