Frances Mary (Cross) Hendrix-Hunt

Frances Mary (Cross) Hendrix-Hunt was born January 25, 1939, of the late George and Della (Weir) Cross in Buffalo, New York. To this marriage five children were born: Katherine, Frances, Della, George, and Bert Cross. They shared a close and supported bond with one another and enjoyed spending time together. As a young girl, Fran grew up in Buffalo, New York. She attended Annunciation Grammar School and Bishop McMahon High School. Fran was united in marriage to Ronald Keith “Buck” Hendrix, April 15, 1965, in Los Angeles, California. Fran and Buck were blessed to share six children: Vern, Mike, David, Toby, Cheryl, and Deborah. Fran and Buck moved back to Buck’s homestead, Buckhorn, Missouri. There, they lived in Colley Holler for a few years and where Fran discovered the life of country living. She grew to embrace the nature and charm of the country, and soon her love and roots were forever planted in Missouri. Fran and Buck shared twenty-seven wonderful years together before his passing, August 15, 1992. Fran married her sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Walter Hunt, July 30, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and to this union gained two daughters, Liz and Jessica. Fran and Chuck were blessed to share twenty-three years of loving and adventurous memories together. Fran was a dedicated high school secretary for the Laquey School District for twenty-eight years. She was exceptionally enthusiastic to be a part of the progression of Laquey Schools. She was the high school secretary for the first graduating class of 1979. Fran had a joyful spirit that she shared with everyone who entered the school. Fran especially enjoyed the friendships gained with the teachers, staff, and students. She took great pleasure in seeing the students become successful. Fran enjoyed life. She enjoyed hunting and camping with her family and friends. Mostly, Fran enjoyed fishing and spending time on the water. She enjoyed entering crappie tournaments in several states and often would place in the tournaments, winning a few prizes. Fran enjoyed traveling, puzzles, and solving word games. Fran had a competitive spirit and did not pass the opportunity for a friendly game. Fran had great faith in the Lord and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior while attending Buckhorn Baptist Church. Fran was a member of Berean Baptist Church where she rededicated her life and was baptized April 24, 2022. Fran loved studying the Bible alongside Chuck; they completed several series of “Know Your Bible” together. Alongside her faith, family and friends she held dearly to her heart. She was an inspiration to many and always had a smile to share. She enjoyed big family gatherings and treasured making memories with her family and those that felt like family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she adored her great-grandchildren. Fran entered into eternal rest Monday, August 22, 2022 in her home having attained the age of eighty-three. Fran was beautiful inside and out. She was loving, caring, kind, genuine, full of life, and was a joy to be around. She will be missed by those who loved her most, her legacy lives on in the countless memories shared by them, the big impact she had on many, and the love that she passed down to everyone that knew her. Fran leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Chuck Hunt of Laquey, MO; children Vern Hendrix (Pat) of Laquey, MO, Mike Hendrix (Debra) of Laquey, MO, David Hendrix (Brenda Pentecost) of Laquey, MO, Toby Hendrix (Sharlene) of Laquey, MO, Cheryl Engle (Toney Taylor) of Laquey, MO, Deborah Hendrix (Ronny Roberts) of Laquey, MO, Liz Maxey (Paul) of Lebanon, MO, and Jessica Hart (Jimmy) of Dixon, Mo; siblings: Katherine Quinn of Buffalo, NY, Della Nelson (Bill Argust) of Hope South, FL, George Cross (Marlene) of Stuart, FL, and Bert Cross (Brenda) of Tonawanda, NY; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Fran was preceded in death by her husband: Ronald “Buck” Hendrix; and parents: George and Della Cross.
