Gene Arthur Graves Sr.

Gene Arthur Graves Sr. was born on July 30, 1937, in Fostoria, Ohio to George and Mary (Rietter) Graves and passed away on December 18, 2020 in Fenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years. Gene grew up in Fostoria, Ohio and graduated from Fostoria High School. At the age of eighteen, he entered the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. Gene proudly served his country faithfully and honorably. Gene was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bonnie Dennis on April 3, 1965 in Wayne, Ohio and together shared over fifty-five years of memories. Gene and Bonnie were blessed with four children, Gene Jr., Christine, William, and John Thomas. Gene was a loving and devoted husband to Bonnie and caring and dedicated father to his children. Gene's working career includes many years with Goodyear/Motor Wheel in Ohio where he achieved to position of Area Supervisor. Upon relocating to Salem, Missouri, Gene was owner/operator of Quality Window Cleaning. Gene always had a joke, trick, and a smile to share with friends and strangers alike. He was known as "Magic Man" and "Lottery Man" and loved spending time with his Phil Mart Family. Gene also enjoyed writing poetry, fishing in his pond, watching deer, and taking care of their property. Most important to him was his family and he truly cherished the memories they made together; especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene is survived by, his loving wife: Bonnie Graves of 55 years; children: Gene Graves Jr. and wife Heather of Findlay, OH, Christine Graves and Marvin of Findlay, OH, John Thomas Graves and wife Jennifer of California; daughter-in-law: Mary Graves of Bradner, OH; sister: Miriam Milam of Upper Sandusky, OH; grandchildren: Lance, Robert, Anthony, Zac, Joshua, Brent, Josh; great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Bentley, Karlee, Lexi, Everlee, Maddox, Easton, Oliver, Ariana; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death, parents: George and Mary Graves; son: William Graves; siblings: Harry, Mary, Mae, Robert, Bruce, Nancy, Mildred, and Margaret. Gene leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. His memories will live on in the many lives he touched along the way. Gene will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. Please remember him for his two-too joke! He'd be really honored for that memory of him. Memorial Services for Gene Arthur Graves Sr. were held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selection played was “Amazing Grace”. Military Honors was provided by the United States Air Force and American Legion Post 99. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
