Gisela (Colsch) Curley

Gisela (Colsch) Curley was born September 9, 1929, in Pirmasens, Germany to Emil and Elisabeth (Hecter) Colsch. She grew up Roman Catholic and attended Catholic Schools with the nuns. Gisela met, Wayne Eugene Curley, while working at the PX in Germany. The two fell in love and were united in marriage on December 28, 1962 and together shared fifty-six years of memories before his passing December 9, 2019. Gisela and Wayne were blessed with six children: Pete, Angela, Michael, Tina, Christine, and Gabi. Gisela moved to the United States in 1968, after Wayne’s tour in Germany ended. She started her working career in Salem with Walmart; throughout the years she also used her talented hands and baking skills at Gingerbread Corner, Char’s Confections, and Bob’s Pizza and Bakery. Gisela was an excellent baker and always had delicious desserts, cakes, and pies in her home. Gisela truly enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family and friends. The holidays, especially Christmas, were her favorite times of the year; she made big to-do’s about them and family traditions. Gisela deeply loved her tight knit family; she would do anything for them. She treasured her grandchildren and valued being a big part of their lives. Gisela adored her great-grandchildren and cherished the memories made with them. Gisela liked to garden, tend to her flower beds, and ride her bike. She had a heart of gold and touched the lives of many with her generosity and kindness. Gisela was an amazing woman of faith and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gisela departed this life February 1, 2022 in Salem, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving children: Pete Curley of Garland, TX, Angela Parker and husband Larry of Lenox, MO, Mike Curley and wife Carolyn of Salem, MO, Tina Lawrence and husband Tracey of St. Charles, MO, and Christine Cottrill and husband Lloyd of Salem, MO; sister: Heidi Sehnert of Pirmasens, Germany; fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were, her loving husband: Wayne Curley; daughter: Gabi Carpenter; grandson: Nicholas Harbison; parents: Emil and Elisabeth Colsch; and sister: Gerlinde Mazce. Gisela was a great example of a classy lady, who was beautiful inside and out, radiating love and kindness. She was special to many and will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Gisela (Colsch) Curley were held Sunday, February 6, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Lyndell Decker officiating. Song selections played were “All My Tears”, “Scars In Heaven”, and “I Can Only Imagine”. Serving as Pallbearers were Matt Parker, Jason Parker, Jared Shorey, LJ Cottrill, Ethan Curley, and Andrew Curley. Honorary Pallbearers were Chris Carpenter, Danny Carpenter, Ryan Curley, and Evan Curley. Burial was in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
