Helanita June (Welch) Nash

Helanita June (Welch) Nash was born August 31, 1954, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was one of two children born to Louie Ray and Shirley Dee (Meade) Welch. Helanita grew up in Salem, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1972 from Salem High School. On June 1, 1991, Helanita was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Darrell Dwayne Nash. Helanita and Darrell created thirty-two years of laughter, marriage, and memories together. They were blessed to share three wonderful children: Angelea, Bethany, and Cody. Helanita worked at Walmart until her retirement. Throughout the years, she worked in several departments, but her favorite was the fabric department. She was an avid quilter, loved to craft, paint, and attend craft shows. Her talent was shared through many handmade gifts for her family and friends. Helanita was a Christian woman with strong faith in the Lord. She was a dedicated member of New Home Baptist Church. Her faith, love of family, and friendship were most important to her. She was the best mother, grandmother, and aunt. The values she instilled were love of family, respect, and traditions. Her greatest joy was that of her grandchildren and niece. She loved spending quality time supporting, encouraging, and making memories with them. She was a true friend to all she knew. Helanita entered eternal rest on November 19, 2023, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years. Those behind to treasure her memory include, her loving husband: Darrell Nash of Salem, MO; children: Angelea Smith and husband Bill of Salem, MO, Bethany Thompson of Salem, MO, and Cody Morton of Salem, MO; brother: James Welch and wife Barb of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Billy, Cameron, Brenden, Dylan, Riley, Makynna, Ashton, Elysia, and Emersyn; special niece: Ashley Howdahl and husband Josh; extended family and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Louie and Shirley Welch. Helanita leaves a lasting legacy of deep faith, a love of family, and the importance of friendship. She was an amazing loving woman who always had a smile to share. She will be forever missed. Funeral Services for Helanita June (Welch) Nash were held Saturday, November 25, 2023, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger officiating. Song selections played were “Follow You to Virgie” and “Beulah Land”. Serving as Pallbearers were Billy Smith, Brenden Smith, Dylan Thompson, Ashton Morton, Bill Smith, and Jimmy Hobson. Honorary Pallbearers were Emersyn Hobson, Makynna Thompson, and Riley Morton. Burial was in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
