Hildred June (Young) Ingram

Hildred June (Young) Ingram, 86, of St. James, Missouri departed this life Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Phelps Health Rolla, Missouri. Hildred was born March 23, 1935 in Montauk, Missouri to the late Robert Ansel and Dorothy Dean (Hollandsworth) Young. Miss Young was united in marriage to Bobby Gene Ingram in 1958 and to this union three daughters were born. Hildred was a committed follower of Jesus Christ. She shared her love for the Lord with family and friends alike. Having lived in several Missouri communities, she always became a dedicated part of a church family, most recently the St. James Baptist Church. She loved to pray, study the Bible, read Christian books and attend services. She was always quick to give God the glory for the blessings in her life. Hildred was a 1953 graduate from Licking High School. She enjoyed working, providing loving home health care after retiring from Rawlings Sporting Goods. She was also a tireless worker at home, being a skilled cook, seamstress, and wasn’t afraid to tackle a chore she’d never done before, passing on the same traits to her girls. She chopped wood, repaired household appliances, and whatever else needed to be accomplished. Hildred loved to cook for others, especially for family holidays and gatherings. Every event included time-honored favorite dishes, but always including something new that she wanted to try. She was a talented artist and left many amazing landscapes and “still lifes”, and loved to grow garden flowers, plants, and herbs. She enjoyed combing yard sales and auctions for treasures, always arriving quickly, even power sliding into driveways if the situation warranted, sharing her finds with family and friends. She especially loved sitting out on the porch in the evenings with her cats, Becky and Buster. Retiring also gave Hildred the opportunity to take extended road trips with her twin sister, Mildred Hickman, and a favorite cousin, Kay Hollandsworth. They kept their families laughing with their stories from the road. Hildred was a loving and giving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. All who knew and loved her will miss her greatly. Hildred is survived by her, loving daughters: Patty Grogan and husband Tom of St. James, MO, Linda Flieg and husband Blake of Licking, MO, and Peggy Link and husband Chris of Licking, MO; grandchildren: Jennifer Bernal of Illinois, Doug Carter and Katie of Illinois, Josh Carter and Ashton of Illinois, John Carter of Illinois, Andrew Ingram of Springfield, MO, and Dylan Link and wife Briana of Licking, MO; great-grandchildren: Natalie, Ava, Owen, Noah, Wade, Gabe, Trevor, and Ireland; twin sister: Mildred Hickman of Columbia, MO; special cousin: Kay Hollandsworth; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Funeral Services for Hildred June (Young) Ingram were held Saturday, August 14, 2021 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Stephen Brubaker officiating and Chris Link sharing the Eulogy. Song selections played were “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden”. Serving as Pallbearers were Dylan Link, Chris Link, Josh Carter, Doug Carter, Larry Grogan, and Blake Flieg. Honorary Pallbearers were Gabe Ingram and Tom Grogan. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
