James "Jim" Edward Hobson

James Edward Hobson was born October 22, 1955, to William Hobson and Ellen Enke. James grew up in a loving home with dad Bill and mom Faye. James loved his brothers Curt and Delbert and sisters Irene, Wanda, Bonnie, Jackie, and Bobby Jo. James would often reminisce with his children what it was like to grow up in a big loving family with little money. James loved his dad and aspired to be just like him. He and his dad were truly selfless. James married the love of his life, Patricia Lynn Alterauge, on February 14, 1976. To this union they were blessed with six children: Gary, David, Craig, Tammy, Billy, and Wesley. James was a wonderful husband and amazing father and grandfather. He worked from dusk till dawn daily to support his family. When any one of his kids or grandkids found trouble or trials, James would be there and always helped them through. James had a wonderful wit and would say things like, “I’m not just another pretty face”, or when you would say “Hi”, he’d say “I’m not high”. James loved logging, hunting, fishing, outdoors, mountains, and animals, but most of all he loved his family and friends. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. James departed this life December 31, 2023, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of sixty-eight years. He is survived by his mother: Faye Hobson of Salem, MO; children: Gary Baker and wife Ramona of Licking, MO, Craig Hobson of Sedalia, MO, Tammy Sartin and husband Josh of Salem, MO, William Hobson and wife Brandi of Salem, MO, and Wesley Hobson and wife Dawn of Salem, MO; siblings: Curt Hobson and wife Roberta of Licking, MO, Delbert Hobson and wife Cheryl of Salem, MO, Irene Hobson of Enid, OK, Wanda Suhr and husband Darryl of Lenox, MO, Bonnie Brodrick and husband Kenneth of Doniphan, MO, Jackie Hobson and Dale Fann of Lenox, MO, and Bobby Jo Petty and husband Frank of Sullivan, MO; twenty-six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; special friend: Debra Yates; bestest pal: his dog Blake; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death, his wife: Patricia Hobson; son: David Hobson; father: William Hobson; mother: Ellen Enke; and his grandparents: Craig and Francis Hobson. James was a true treasure on Earth and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral Services for James Edward Hobson were held Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Curt Hobson officiating. Special Music sung was “Day After Day” and “Wind Beneath My Wings” and additional song selection played was “That’s My Job”.
