Janice Mae Pruett

Janice Mae Pruett was born August 15, 1950, in Licking, Missouri. She was the daughter of Virgil and Gladys (Wilson) Pruett. She was one of seven children and had a strong bond with her siblings. On May 6, 1966, Janice was united in marriage to Larry Chapman and to this union blessed with one son, Rick. Throughout her life, Janice found fulfillment and purpose in her roles as a devoted homemaker and loving mother. Her unwavering dedication to creating a warm and nurturing home enriched the lives of all who knew her. She selflessly poured her heart into her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter. Janice loved to look her best and enjoyed visiting the beauty shop, getting her hair fixed, at least once or twice a week. She liked to get dressed up by showing off her jewelry to match her outfits. You would usually see her out and about with a coke in her hand. Most important to her was her family and faith. She was a believer and baptized into the Pentecostal Faith. Janice entered eternal rest February 2, 2025, in Sullivan, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years. She is survived by her loving son: Rick Chapman and wife Paula; sister: Vicky McDonald; grandchildren: Darrick Chapman and wife Ashlee, Stephanie Meredith, Sarah Chapman, Shelby Chapman, and Dalton Chapman and wife Makaila; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her parents: Virgil and Gladys Pruett; and siblings: JR Pruett, Don Pruett, Charlotte Parks, JoAnn Stewart, and Bill Pruett. Her onery nature was balanced by a heart of gold, making her a delight to be around. Janice will be forever missed by those who loved and knew her. Funeral Services for Janice Mae Pruett were held Friday, February 7, 2025, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Chris Hendrix officiating. Song selections played were “I’ll Fly Away” and “Wind Beneath My Wings”. Serving as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers were Dalton Chapman, Trenton Berry, Rowdy Mackley, Noah Sapp, Aaron Steelman, Matt Thedford, Jennifer Thedford, and Darrick Chapman.
