Jay Dickson

Jay Dickson was born December 2, 1942, Ports Mouth, Virginia to Sam and Vera (Brackett) Dickson. He grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from high school in 1961. After high school, Jay enlisted into the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully for twenty-two years until his retirement in 1982. During his time in the military, Jay furthered his education and traveled the states. For his honorable service, he earned many decorations, medals, ribbons, and awards. Jay was united in marriage to the love of his life, Claudia Elizabeth Winslow, July 5, 1964 and together shared fifty-eight years of marriage. Jay and Claudia were blessed with two children: Richard and Deborah. Jay took great pride in providing for his family and thoroughly enjoyed his work as a computer technician. He truly enjoyed working on computers and kept up with new technology. Jay liked to read, especially science fiction and tech magazines. Jay loved making memories with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at the Current River and local lakes. Jay entered into eternal rest November 20, 2022 at the age of seventy-nine years. He is survived by his loving wife: Claudia Dickson of Salem, MO; son: Richard Dickson and wife Alana of St. Charles, MO; daughter: Deborah Dickson of Kansas City, MO; brother: Eric Dickson and wife Marrell; sister: Martchen Cooper and husband Barrie; brother-in-law: Michael Winslow; grandchildren: Gregory Dickson and partner Kelsey, Kimberly Dickson, Juliana Dickson, and Che Dickson; great-granddaughter: Layla; extended family and dear friends.. Preceding him in death, his parents: Sam and Vera Dickson. Jay will be remembered for his great sense of humor and friendly spirit. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Jay Dickson were held Monday, November 28, 2022 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Charlie Younger officiating. Song selection played was “Amazing Grace”. Burial with Full Military Honors was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, Missouri. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
