Joan Deanna (Dotson) Stoner

Joan Deanna (Dotson) Stoner was born May 19, 1940, in Salem, Missouri. She was one of four children born to John and Leavanna (Kaffer) Dotson. Joan grew up and has many fond memories in the Boss and Davisville area. On September 29, 1961, Joan was united in marriage to the love of her life, Edward Stoner. They shared together thirty-three years of marriage, laughter, and memories before his passing on July 4, 1995. Joan and Edward were blessed with three daughters: Bess, Sandy, and Judy. In her early working years, she worked as a seamstress at Hagale Industries. She was a talented seamstress and often had a project in the works in her spare time. Her passion and talent led to her main hobby of quilting, which was evident in her craftmanship and dedication. Joan was compassionate, selfless, generous, and a natural caregiver, who always prioritized the needs of others before her own. She truly enjoyed helping those in need and has touched the lives of many. When she was able, Joan found great joy in spending time outdoors. She could often be found watching the birds, tending to her garden, or maintaining her flower beds that were admired by everyone. Joan took a great interest in genealogy and had a desire to share her family history with others. In her free time, she enjoyed making memories with her family. She loved her daughters fiercely, but the light of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Joan was always giving and thoughtful to her family and friends. She was a woman that had a strong faith and tremendous love of the Lord. Joan enjoyed the fellowship at Second Baptist Church. Joan entered eternal rest May 11, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years. Those left behind to treasure her memory include her loving daughters: Bess Dotson of Salem, MO, Sandy Stoner and friend Tim of Salem, MO, and Judy Conway and husband Steve of Salem, MO; grandchildren: Dustin Conway and wife Renae and Ashley Brooke Conway; great-grandchildren: Isaac and Zoey; sister-in-law: Jean Stoner; special friend: Goldie Boxx; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Preceding her in death were her loving husband: Edward Stoner; parents: John and Leavanna Dotson; sisters: Oma Dotson and Helen Givens; and brother: Marvin Dotson. Joan will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her. Funeral Services for Joan Deanna (Dotson) Stoner were held Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Pastor Clay Harper officiating. Special Music was provided. Serving as Pallbearers were Steve Conway, Kevin Parsons, Kelly Parsons, Danny Baum, Travis Wethy, and Dan Hillebert. Honorary Pallbearers were Pete Dotson and Timothy Swaffar. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Joan Stoner to the Dent County Animal Welfare Society and left with Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
