Joe Lee Hubbs

Joe Lee Hubbs was born January 11, 1946, to Claude William and Lois Maxine (Westerman) Hubbs. He grew up in Salem, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1963 from Salem High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge January 5, 1972. While stationed in Washington D.C., Joe met the love of his life, Cynthia Gail Lynn. They were united in marriage on November 25, 1967, and shared fifty-four years of lasting memories before her passing April 10, 2022. Joe and Gail were blessed with three sons: Joseph, William, and Matthew. Joe, a skilled upholsterer, spent a large part of his working career in a shop based out of his home. His work was excellent, and he upholstered many couches, chairs, workbenches, etc. throughout the years. In his spare time, Joe loved making memories with his family. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and especially loved hunting and fishing with them. Joe was a quiet man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. His faith was strong, and he had a heart for serving and telling others about the Lord. Joe served as the Pastor of Dry Fork Baptist Church for over thirty years. Joe entered eternal rest July 12, 2024, in Salem, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years. He is survived by his loving sons: Joseph Todd Hubbs and wife Jonni of Kansas City, MO, William Hubbs and wife Angel of Salem, MO, and Matthew Hubbs and wife Emily of Orlando, FL; sisters: Judith LaBrash and husband Richard of Salem, MO, Faye Jones and husband Cal of Kansas City, MO and Sally Hubbs and husband Jack Pitts of Springfield, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law: Sue Hubbs of Salem, MO and Linda Hubbs of Huntsville, OH; Sam Lynn and wife Debbie of Loudon, TN, Ronnie Lynn and wife Linda of Philadelphia, TN; and Jane Lynn Massey of Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren: Madyson, Logan, Jordan, Luke, and Marcus; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Preceding him in death were his loving wife: Gail Hubbs; parents: Claude and Lois Hubbs; brothers: Ronald and Junior Hubbs. Joe will be remembered for his kind and humble nature, as well as his eager willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him most. Funeral Services for Joe Lee Hubbs were held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with Richard LaBrash Sr. officiating. Special Music was provided by pianist Catherine Dent and soloist Melinda Medlock singing “What A Day That Will Be”, additional song selection played was “I’ll Fly Away”. Serving as Pallbearers were Jason LaBrash, Dennis Inman, Justin Hubbs, Logan Hubbs, Larry Schafer, and Rusty Chamberlain. Military Honors was provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 99. Burial was in the Dry Fork Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made in memory of Joe Hubbs to Dry Fork Baptist Church or Dry Fork Cemetery and left at Wilson Mortuary. Memorial Envelopes will be available.
