John James Gorman

John James Gorman, 65, was born on August 7, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, to George Gorman and Patricia Giacoma. He lost his battle to cancer after a long hard fight with family by his side on June 30th, 2026 John spent his childhood growing up in Belle, Missouri. After graduating high school, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1979 at the age of 18. During his time in the Army, he met his first wife, and together they welcomed their daughter, Nicole. After his military service, John returned to Missouri where he enjoyed working alongside his father on the family farm. Over the years, he wore many hats, spending countless hours as an over the road truck driver, working in a salvage yard, and doing whatever hard work was needed. He later moved to Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Donna. Together they welcomed two children, James and Victoria. John eventually found the career he truly loved in the oil fields, where he dedicated many years of hard work. In 2020, John and Donna returned to Missouri to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and extended family. He worked at Quaker before joining the University of Missouri Health Care as a Mechanical Plant Specialist, where he continued doing what he did best—working hard. You could often find John entering pool tournaments or playing music. He could pick up a guitar or sit down at a piano, and never tired of the sound of a banjo or a good bluegrass tune. John loved staying busy, always lending a hand, never meeting a stranger and more recently going to the grandchildren’s games. He never did lose his ornery sense of humor or ability to make people laugh. His jokes, stories, and personality will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. John was preceded in death by his father, George Gorman, and his faithful companion and best buddy, Speedy His life will continue to be celebrated by his beloved significant other, Donna ;his mother, Patricia Giacoma; and Christene Livingston, whom he loved dearly and considered a mother in every way. He is also survived by his children: Nicole (Will) Springs of Virginia; James (Melissa) Gorman of Hallsville, Missouri; and Victoria (Justin) of Glasgow, Missouri. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Justin, Xavier, Isaiah, Malachi, Mahalie, Addleigh, Brecklyn, Jayden, Aubree, and Lilly. Also surviving are his sisters, Becky, Vicki, Missy, Sandy, Carla, and Etta, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends. Mittens, Inky, and Little Bit, brought him endless comfort, laughter and unconditional love. They made it their full-time job to keep him company, and remind him who was really in charge of the house. Although they were cats, they were every bit as much family as anyone else. John’s time on earth will be remembered by the love for his family. Whether he was telling a joke, casting a fishing line, out in the woods hunting, playing music, or simply spending time with those he loved, he lived life on his own terms.
